Dan Kagey wins Garst Heritage Award

On March 23 the Darke County Historical Society held their annual meeting at Garst Museum. Director Penny Perry reported a record 10,630 visitors for 2009. In addition, President Marchal presented a special “Garst Heritage Award” to Dan Kagey, who has kept the museum and grounds in pristine condition for 52 years ! Also recognized were members of the Annie Oakley Center Foundation for supporting the new entrance to the Center’s room.

Dr. Paul Fees spoke to the members about his research concerning Annie’s life. Dr. Fees is considered the eminent authority about Annie Oakley. Darke County Historical Society members receive many benefits, including access to informative talks, reduced entrance fees, and a periodic newsletter.
