Volunteers needed to serve as hiking trail monitors

Lace up your walking shoes and share a nature hike with your family, all while giving back to your community.

Darke County Park District needs volunteers to serve as trail monitors. Volunteers will adopt a trail in one of the parks and walk the trail regularly. Duties will include picking up litter along the trail and reporting major safety issues along the trail to park staff. This position is available to volunteers who are at least 16 years of age or as young as 10 years of age when accompanied by an adult. This is a great position for families.

“The time and talent of volunteers who monitor our trails allow us to provide a safe environment for visitors to enjoy,” says Volunteer Coordinator Laura Schwieterman.
