1961 Reds team photo among Sure Shot Gala Prizes

The Little Sure Shot Gala at Garst Museum, Greenville, is announcing an item that might be of interest to area readers.

It is a group photo of the 1961 Big Red Machine Cincinnati Red’s team. Among the players in the photo is St. Henry’s Wally Post.

The event will be held on May 22 doors open at 6:00 p.m. The photo will be among several items, including OSU football tickets in the live auction.

There will also be a silent auction and raffles, as well as food and fun.

Admission to the gala is $10 and reservations are required.

  1. The 1961 Reds were not the "The Big Red Machine". That name is reserved for the 1973-76 teams.
    As a matter of fact, they were just getting used to being called the "Reds" again due to the communist scare of the 50's. They were known as the Reds, so for a time they used they named Red Legs-also not to be confused with the Red Stockings, later the Red Sox of Boston.
