Busting out in Ansonia?

I am a resident of Darke County and send my children to Ansonia Local Schools.

This morning (May 28) as I was about to drop my children off I saw that the senior girls had pulled a prank. There were bras hanging from every tree, sign, and bush with a huge sign hung on the building which read" Ansonia seniors are "busting out." The girls drove through the parking lot hanging out the car windows waving bras in the air, wearing bras on the outside of their shirts.

I felt this was VERY inappropriate, however what I found unbelievable was the fact that the teachers, yes teachers, were out there cheering, whistling and hollering like they were at a strip club. This is a high school - not Hooters. My six year old had to watch as male teachers cheered on girls waving their bras out the car windows. This is on school grounds yet it felt like a frat party. I was shocked and horrified by this behavior.

  1. I can understand what you are saying but at the same time didn't we all do silly things when we were younger. I have to catch myself because I get upset at my children doing thing that maybe aren't right, but then I remember doing some of the same things when I was a kid. I don't believe I turned out to bad. I agree the teachers should not have gotten involved being authority figures. Could the girls have picked something different, yes. But I don't think your child will be scared for life, they see worse on TV.

  2. I Totally Agree. I too took my little boy to school today and was shocked! I believe in having fun,but this was worst than a strip club.

  3. The prank I can understand, but the "goings on" that you describe are not appropriate when the younger kids are around.
The seniors should not be punished, but the staff/administration should make an apology for allowing them to do such things on school grounds. Not cool, Ansoinia. Not cool.

  4. Just be glad they weren't waving bras, bare from the waist up.

  5. Well, congrats to Ansonia's seniors. Is this the worst prank to have happened? Hardly. Should the teachers and staff been encouraging the students? No. Would those who were "shocked" by today's behavior, been so had they not had their small kids with them? Probably not ... especially if their kids could see some of things their parents did back in the day. *smirk*

  6. I am just disgusted over the whole thing.Ansonia already has a rep for being trash. They just confirmed anyones thought this is true.I mean have some class about you.The teachers should be ashamed of themselves.Kinda scary they would encourage that type of behavior.
Wow is all I can say.Jokes are meant to be funny. Not to make a school look like a strip outfit.Class up Ansonia

  7. Lighten-up people. Harmless fun. Just be glad they're not out robbing people or mugging old ladies. The girls thought it was racy and fun---let them alone.

  8. A little overboard?? Maybe, but come on. A senior prank that did no damage to property, or cost man power to clean up or fix, I say good job Ansonia seniors. The teachers...well viewing and maybe laughing a little, but cheering it on should not be happening (assuming they really were cheering on. I know how things can get blown out of proportion). If your worried that your little kids will be scarred by seeing bras waving around, just take the little ones to the store this weekend and buy them a great new pair of jeans with the waist 3 sizes to big so they can hang down around their knees and everyone can see their underwear hang out (which is fine, just don't wave your bra around)

  9. I taught these students as 4th graders, they were a wonderful group of students(both boys and girls), bright, talented, athletic, and obviously CREATIVE! :) I hope they enjoy a great weekend.

  10. @Mom 537, obviously you've never been to a strip club:)

Look at it this way, should all else fail, they will certainly have a career in dancing ahead of them.

  11. Tacky, just tacky.

  12. So let's get this straight.Just because no property was hurt and the girls thought it would be fun and oh let us not forget we all did stuff like this when we were young. You think that's okay.Um no.It's really not.Young girls already have serious issues with showing off to much of the bod.So let's teach them to respect themselves and their bodies.not parade underclothes around.I mean grow up.Have some dignity about you.It just shows how little they care about what people think about the school in Ansonia. So for all you way to go people.I assume your kids are those who need to cover up and have some morals taught to them.Shame on you Ansonia. For you parents who say it's funny. You to should learn a thing or to about respect and then teach you kids.

    ReplyDelete
  13. What a bunch of up tight bitties. If you think that's worse than a strip club I think you need a reality check. I found this to be hilarious and not harming anyone. Agrees the faculty shouldn't be hooping a hollering, but really. This is trashy? Please. The play on words is pretty funny. It isn't like the kids were naked a dancing.

If your snowflake was harmed by some innocent fun, I feel horrible for the environment that kid must exist in.

  14. What about pants on the ground. They weren't looking like clowns.Looking like a fool at Ansonia school. Was their bras on the ground, turned side ways like a hooch wanting a smooch,NO.You go girls

    ReplyDelete
  15. No one was parading in underclothes...everything was neat and clean. That's a student/teacher parking area...use the circle drive as it was designed and your children would have been none the wiser. Do you use blinders walking through Wal-Mart?

  16. Theres always going to be someone who doesnt like someones senior prank lol

  17. The point of the whole matter is that the teachers being the "responsible adults" should have neither condoned nor encouraged this type of behavior. The whooping and whistling from children is not a suprise, but from the leadership it is reprehensible. For those on here that would pooh-pooh those that object to this behavior, and rationalize it by our own former shortcomings, what a discouraging future you offer. I thought it was the adults responsibility to teach and encourage something better, i.e. self-respect and character. As a society we all have to live together, and if we cannot extend the courtesy of public decency at our public schools, what hope can there be for the expectation of a civil society? As a teacher, I demand for myself the greatest level of professionalism and respect for my students. I do this in the faith that I am creating a better society for me and my children. I only ask that Ansonia staff teach respect and character by example.

  18. You're assuming that this was an act of self disrespect. I disagree. It was a good natured prank and did no harm. Sure, be upset at the faculty, but don't pretend like the girl's actions are so horrible. Perhaps mary's poor son learned that there are times in life to celebrate by being a little silly and disrupting the norm. This was not disruptive. It was not even indecent. It was creative and fun without being destructive, violent, or breaking any laws.

    In short, lighten up, Francis.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Did the girls have permission to do this or is that where the "prank" comes in? I can't see the school administrators allowing such an act. What did the boys do? Their speedos and jock straps hanging off of rear view mirrors and antennas would have been a sight!

    ReplyDelete
  20. If guys had done it, then it would have been considered to be funny, people need to get over it, girls just wanna have fun.
I know that song is stuck in your head now, everybody start singing girls just wanna have fun, take your bras off and run

    ReplyDelete
  21. I really hope the school confiscated all the bras and is donating them to Goodwill. Last laugh for the school on that one!

Then again, many of them probably had recently come from there, anyway, so they would just be going back. If some girls were to actually be throwing their Victoria's Secret (for example) collection in trees, maybe creativity truly wasn't the class's strong suit.

  22. While I think it is not ok for teachers to have cheered them on (I think I probably would have chuckled behind their backs)......and wearing bras over their clothes a little too much, I would much rather see this than what the seniors did a few miles up north............seniors coming to the last day of school intoxicated.......a teacher reported the alcohol odor in her room to the principle.......he did the breathalizer test and 17 of 70 tested over the limit....... Mind you these students drove to school intoxicated!

I would much rather explain " bras hanging on a tree" as a prank for the seniors than the streets, in and around the school, being driven on by intoxicated seniors.

Most seniors that do pranks will turn out to be successful adults...quite a few of these past pranksters are quite successful in the Greenville area as we speak.

Perhaps what the Ansonia seniors did wasn't right. However, senior pranks are a reality. Their choices could have been a lot worse.

I still think I would have chuckled behind their backs.

    ReplyDelete
  23. This was Ansonia, so they should have been throwing their blue jeans in the trees because more are probably "busting out" of those than their bras. The seams on some of those pants 3 sizes TOO SMALL send a lot of prayers towards heaven that they hold up!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think Ansonia has come a long way over the years......I have a lot of respect for the people that I know who are from Ansonia. I have seen some great young adults come out of the Ansonia schools...........weren't they "above" Greenville academically when the county schools were ranked recently?

They may not have a lot of big homes and expensive cars there.......but who cares......it is what is in the inside of a person that counts......what you do for others.......that you become the best you can be.....work hard....support your community.....the people I know have these qualities.

All communities have those that don't make us proud..........I don't think Ansonia has anymore than some others for their size of town.

  25. OH DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA...Get over it, no one was harmed, no damage to anything... Heck a few classes before me ruined any senior pranks in the years to come... am sure your kids have seen worse on TV and come its all right for guys to walk around with their pants passes their butts... but not for chicks to wave around bras... oh my whats this world coming too, come on folks, don't ya think there are more things to worry about then this!!!! for real!!!!! get over.. kids see bras all the time in stores... hummm....get alife...

    ReplyDelete
  26. My outage was not over the fact the the girls pulled this "prank", it was over the fact the the teachers and administrators saw NOTHING inappropriate with it. Kids do stupid stuff. That is what parents and educators are for- to teach them.To say, "Sorry but that is offensive." Ansonisa is an excellent school academically. That is why I send my children there. They have some of the most gifted teachers around and I have been SO pleased with the education my children receive. That is why I was so dissappointed. The staff really made some very poor judgement calls that day and were incredibly poor examples to all the children. More parents should have spoken up. Would you have wanted to see YOUR daughter out there waving her bra around while her male teachers clapped and cheered? Kinda scary thought, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  27. oh my gosh! A BRA hanging everywhere! Time to call childrens services! I find this to be so rediculous that these posts are just so "goodie two shoes". Give them a break. I find it I seen that Ansonia was a "less than" school? I beg to differ. My child goes there and is in all the sports. The teachers take all the time he needs and he has a wonderful relationship with the whole school. I have said 1,000 times that Ansonia was one of the BEST schools I have seen. His grades are A's and B's. Not so from the other school he went to. They got him into sports, not so with the other schools. The teachers are respectable and believe in having fun with thier students. And this was just mere FUN for the senior girls. Now just keep dumping on them. You're lucky they aren't sitting home with a baby for you to raise! People, lighten up! Those girls have seen way worse at home on TV! This was just pure fun. YOU GO GIRLS and CONGRATS!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ah, I see. So as long as an action falls into your definitions of: "...good natured prank", "no one was harmed...", and "...girls just wanna have fun", it's all good? I am now so very encouraged. Here I was worried that I was sending my children into a world of grey morality, but I see that most of you here have such a clear standard of right and wrong. I am so glad to know that my children will never be at a loss to find such upstanding moral leadership in Darke county.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree with most of you, get over it. Harmless. Have you taken a look at what are teens are exposed to? MTV reality shows especially. You can try to hide your kids, but getting harder and harder to do. Better to educate and explain than to hide.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lighten up,lady! Geez. At least they didnt destroy property like that fraternity from Miami University did. Like one of the other posters said, your kid is going to see worse than that. And at least they werent exposing themselves. They're graduating seniors. Let them have their last attention grabbing moment in the sun.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ansonia was 1 of 3 districts in the County that got an Excellent rating for the job they are doing educating their kids. Whatever this prank was or wasn't, reactions to it should be made with that rating in mind.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why was this even put on this site?
If it bothered you so much Mary, why didn't you take it up with the Ansonia administration
    instead of posting on here?

    ReplyDelete
  33. 11:03 ... I have to correct the record here. Mary submitted a longer letter includd her interaction with the principal and superintendent. I took out that part, with Mary's permission, because it included some "he said/she said" that I didn't have the time to verify.

She wrote her letter because of her frustration with those conversations.

  34. DJ,
You are a great resource for people and I commend you for that.On the whole Ansonia situation.I just think girls these days think that type of behavior is cute and funny.Ask me I say it's just putting way to much of yourself out there.I mean nothing was hurt this is true, but come on your bra's.I don't like seeing that stuff out when shopping.I certainly don't want to see it at my kids school.Old school Mom I suppose.Back in the day.We would have never done such a thing.I'm glad my girls have already graduated. They would not have been allowed to do such a thing. It's called having some class. The parents who say it's all fun and games.True until some thing tragic happens to one of there girls. Then not so funny.Think about that those of you who say. It's all just fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dear 11:03,
It's obvious you have never encountered Ansonia administration they do what ever it takes to cover there own butts. The general opinion does NOT count. You can talk and they will listen ,but that's it.Been there done that.So you might as well talk to a wall. She had a concern and it was posted. You don't have to agree with her feelings, but you do need to respect her take on things. That's why we live in America.Freedom of speech. So leave her alone.FYI that's why we love DJ.You must agree your on here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. To anonymous 1:36... "come on your bras. I don't like seeing that stuff out when shopping." Seriously?? So it bothers you going into walmart or kmart and seeing "underthings" hanging on the racks, or driving around on a nice day when someone hangs out the laundry to dry. And your right it is all fun and games until something tragic happens, but what exactly tragic could happen waving their bras around. I mean other than putting an eye out, but according to my mom everything you do can put your eye out.

  37. Surely this can all blamed on Obama.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Funny prank, yes. Teachers hooting and hollering, bad move. I've seen morally questionable behavior from teachers and administrators from Ansonia before. A teacher and senior student that "began dating" on graduation night. And wasn't there an administrator with a DUI? The whole thing doesn't really surprise me.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I understand Obama was seen at the scene of the bras gone wild episode. He was blinded by the sight. Maybe he was already blind, I don't know, can't remember, bras are all I can see, they are chasing me, ohh the horror. Lighten Up.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Shame on you parents and teachers that believe this behavior is ok. We as parents need to teach our children good moral believes to be productive citzens. There are young children looking up to the older kids and want to be like them. This is a bad example to place in front of them. The teachers that cheered them on should be responsibile for there actions and made accountable for that. I am very disappointed in the teachers and administration - GET YOU ACT TOGETHER to better our children.

I have dealt with the administation for several years now and I have found them to be nothing but curtious and helpful. I am really not sure where my child would have ended up had it not been for thier help. Child was getting c's and D's. no sports, hated school. I went ot talk with Marla Threewits and problem solved. He is playing sports, making A's and B's and they take a real interest in him. He loves to go to school and wouldnt miss a day if he had to drag himself there. School IS his life now and for that, I am SO thankful for ANSONIA SCHOOLS. Never one time did I feel like I was talking to a "wall". And EVERYTIME, I got results. I am just a mother of a student there and I am thankful for this school. And bras hanging around...oh my gosh, could be so much worse. At least they don't have to walk through metal detectors to get into class.

    ReplyDelete
  42. See, Mary, it's a losing battle with the majority of the public. It's a sign of the times. I commend you for standing firm in your beliefs and I encourage you to continue to raise your children the way you are, holding firm to your convictions and God's Word. It will never fail us. We will be persecuted for our beliefs, yet in the end we will see Him reign supreme and it will all be worth it.

  43. Apparently everyone forgets of the famous flashing incident at graduatin of 1997. This incident is of no comparison, but I don't think it constitutes this much discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  44. oh boy another self rightous nit wit. Notice to all retail and discount stores.. 'til further notice all bras will be behind closed doors and can only be seen by appointment and an I.D.stating you are atleast the age of fuddy and duddy.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 836, if anything, "you" are persecuting us. Us being those that don't take themselves so seriusly as to be offended by pieces of our own clothing. How does the poster get dressed everyday without being offended by the apparatus they have to strap on themselves?

Newsflash, bras do not equal breasts. Showing one has nothing to do with the other.

    ReplyDelete
  46. what about when you go to a store i bet kids see more bra's then they seen at the school.get over it they are just haveing fun i bet you done something dumb when you were young.we all did at one time or another.that is the problem kids can't have fun no more.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well DUH! I'm sure the seniors are enjoying the attention and notariety that they are getting. I live in Ansonia and I didn't know anything about it till here. As for little kids seeing a bunch of bras, ever see a Victoria Secret ad??? I think a bunch of senior girls will look back on this when they are "seniors" again and shake their heads. "What were we thinking". They will probably REALLy need bras then....

    ReplyDelete
  48. So many mindless and ignorant responses. People do you not read and just respond? She says the issue is that the teachers are condoning it. Yes, you do see these items in WalMart but I don't see any of the Walmart workers swinging them around when I am there. I would think that would be quite weird as well as inappropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Guess what! I remember this one time I was at this establishment and there were bras hanging from the ceiling and I was so shocked, I thought, WOW! This is VERY innapropriate, but then I realized that I was in a strip club. You know what, get a life, your only young once, let them have fun and do there pranks. No one was hurt so who cares. Complain about more important things like the oil leak in the Gulf!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Self rightious. I cannot believe this was even an issue! It sounds like you need to stay home and just watch religious channels. Out here in the REAL worls, you may see a bra or two. And the fact that the teachers were having fun with them- good, clean fun (unless you consider a bra "unclean")just proves that they are good with thier students and aren't so uptight that they can't do anything but pray. I think that would be Mary's cure to this. Yes, you sinners! get on your knees and the teachers ALL FIRED by Mary because she doesn't like the site of a bra in the tree for one day while they were having fun. They earned this day from hard work and to complain about this is just disgusting. If you must be so uptight, throw out your TV Mary. Stand on the street corner and "spread the word". And go complain about such stupid things to the school. Are we not hapy that the kids and teachers get along and have FUN together? CLEAN fun? Girls, next year, go bare from waist up. See how Mary can deal with that one. THEN she would have something to complain about that was legit.

    ReplyDelete
  51. anonymous 8:51
those at walmart have already graduated ----or not! Thats like comparing apples to oranges. I am getting a feeling there may be some jealous , radically religious people here. Like another poster said, why don't you complain about something WORTH complaining about. Look at all of these posts and maybe consider posting something that would help the city, county , country and stop worrying about a silly seniour prank as if they are going to hell over it or something. geesh!

    ReplyDelete
  52. To mindless and ignorant @ 8:51... you seem to be the one mindless and ignorant. I do read and then think and then respond, and the response about being offended in walmart or kmart is right on. I don't see workers swinging them around when I am there either, but the person from may 29 @ 1:36 said she doesn't even like to see them when she is shopping period. She did not say anything about them swinging around while shopping, just didn't like seeing them. I understand Mary's point about the teachers and tend to agree that their actions may not have been the best, but still say the actions of the seniors is being taken way way to serious.... I think it is rather funny... and people linking an article of clothing to a morality issue? WOW. I can't quote the entire bible from memory, but I'm not sure where it refers to thou shalt not swing thy neighbors bra

    ReplyDelete
  53. I feel it is time to take this completely off of here graduation is over.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Its like some of you parents have never seen a bra. News flash: your kids have been exposed to worse on Hannah Montana. Also, I was standing outside as this was happening, and the teachers weren't cheering them on. Exactly where did you come up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  55. awwww...it just makes it sound better! If they don't include the teachers, they MAY come off sounding rediculous. But...they do anyway, so even iF the teachers were there cheering them on, they were cheering because these kids have spent thier lives in school and are BUSTING OUT!They made it. They graduated! I find it to be a very cute theme and no, I am not a bad person. I have morals. But to make such a big deal over this is just sad.Talk about uptight! Some people make it impossible for a kid to be a kid. Then wonder where they went wrong....

    ReplyDelete
  56. 56 (now 57) comments about bras, and only 39 comments about 12 convicted sexual predators living in Greenville, most from out of Darke County. Hmmmmm, just an observation.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I was thinking the same LL :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. My daughter was one of those senior girls and I was at the school when they drove through the parking lot. I did not observe any of the teachers hooting and hollering. Nor do I consider my daughter or any of her classmates to be "trashy" as one of the postings stated. Ansonia has a great administration and a wonderful staff of teachers. 90% of this class is moving on to college. Get over it and move on!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was one of those senior girls who attended this prank. Everyone needs to get over themselves, if you are appauled by your kids seeing bras.. then keep your televsions turned off, keep them out of stores, and away from girls. Seriously, this prank did NO HARM TO YOU OR YOUR KIDS, so they saw bras hanging from the tree's, im sure they have seen worse than you think! In fact, the bras we had got from Goodwill and other consiment shops were donated to good causes. If you parents are complaining about this, i feel sorry about hearing every other stupid thing you complain about!
The school teachers and staff had came outside to see us, and yes they were laughing, but so was everyone else.. they thought it was funny- so what!

GET OVER YOURSELF, MOVE ON WITH LIFE!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love all the comments. The girls are getting what they wanted: ATTENTION!! Way to go girls! I myself, see nothing wrong with the senior prank. They were very creative with this one. I bet the teachers were just glad they were leaving. If they were this creative and crazy at school, Did you ever think of why they were cheering them on? Just speak before you ask because that is how rumors getting started.

I think it is ironic how the person who posted this or anyone complaining doesn't like the attention it draws to the school and yet, they are just adding fuel to the fire. ha ha ha ha! Looks like someone else wants a little time in the spotlight!

Life goes on... goodluck Ansonia Seniors!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Personally, I like all-inclusive statements. For example, "Ansonia is trashy," "has a reputation ...," "the teachers were ...," "they should ...," "the administration ...," "the girls ...," "the seniors ...." A lot of stereotyping and generalities being cast about. Lumping everyone together in this situation does make the whole community look bad. But it makes you appear ignorant and look worse. Funny enough, I work at Ansonia. I was in the school while the girls were parading through the parking lot. But your comment, Mary, as well as others, makes it seem like I'm an irresponsible teacher with few morals and a dark, perverted side. That's what is truly offensive in this whole slightly humorous situation.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Why is it that we only hear about the negative things that these kids do? I really don't even consider this all that negative. What about the positive things the Class of 2010 did? Was there a blog on here about those things? NO!! If you don't like the way the administration handled this, I wish you luck finding any school in this area that would do anything differently. There is no school out there that is perfect, but you go ahead and try living in a perfect world. I think that you will find that a perfect world does not exist. I don't think any of the kids at Ansonia will be scarred for life, I am pretty sure most of them have seen a bra before.

    ReplyDelete
  63. First off i never heard that Ansonia has a reputation of being trashy! Second the teachers outside were not cheering them on, yes they were laughing. BIG DEAL! So if you don't want your kids to see bras then you probably get rid of your tv, not allow your kids to go to stores, and if your a mother im sure they have seen your bras. The girls riding around the parking lot with their CLOTHES ON, and bras on the outside, Once again BIG DEAL!! It didn't hurt them!! Really all i have to say is that if my senior year gets ruined because the school won't allow my class to do a senior prank. It will be hell and if i have to wait till after i get my diploma then so be it but we will do a senior prank!!
Congrats Class of 2010:) Nice way of "BUSTING OUT" ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64. If anything Mary should apologize for her offensive statements made on here. Lighten up Mary, you are the one person who had to ruin it for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Mary must want "Attention" because she is getting more attention than the girls prank did. In fact, her posting this on here is a little much. You're drawing pointless attention to yourself. Apologize to the girls, and get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm from a different school, and looking at this all I have to say is Mary is a fun sucker. Littel does she know what goes on at other schools. Ansonia is one of the few schools that does NOT have a problem with drugs. At my school, this prank is nothing to compare. But nothing is reported about our problem. Consider Ansonia Students lucky!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Mary, your kids will survive, deep breaths, now let it go. You took this way out of hand, varify your story first, then post. Also, not every teacher at Ansonia should be "condoned." Apologize for that comment about the staff.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Okay...Ansonia is not trash and I have never herd it said. I was one of those senior girls and I’m not even going to comment on how ridiculous it is that you are complaining about bras, there a part of life all girls wear them, get over it.

Our teachers were not out there yelling and cheering, that is what is being blown out of proportion! Stop talking about our teachers, they are the reason we made it through high school, and the reason we are an exhalent school district. You saw a few teachers outside laughing and talking to us that doesn’t make them bad teachers with no morals. They are good people and awesome teachers; don’t judge them for laughing with us one last time.

    ReplyDelete
  69. AS A PARENT THAT WAS DROPPING MY CHILD OFF THAT MORNING I CAN TESTIFY THAT THERE WERE A FEW TEACHERS CHEERING, WHISTLING, JUMPING, ETC. ATLEAST TELL THE TRUTH WHEN YOU GIVE YOUR OPINION. IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR THEN WHY IS IT GETTING SO MUCH ATTENTION? ANSONIA IS NOT TRASH BUT DOES HAVE ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH QUESTIONABLE MORALS, ABVIOUS BY THE COMMENTS.

    ReplyDelete
  70. for the comment posted in all caps:

who cares if the teachers were outside cheering, they were glad we made it and happy we were graduating! they thought our prank was funny.. WHO CARES! im sure everyones kids have seen their own mom's bras before.

get over it, seriously.. everyone whose complaining about this are the people who want the attention.

and as to Mary who posted this, i hope you're happy for making ansonia looking bad. Just because we (senior girls) did a prank, doesnt mean Ansonia is "trashy", we were having fun and celebrating we made it! My senior class has 90% of us going off to college. Our Teachers are amazing and are great people. They are the ones who helped us get through and taught us all we know. Thanks you teachers, staff and administration for everything! you all are AMAZING!

congrats to my senior classmates =)

  71. The last post just said it all.

And to the caps post if you still think Ansonia people have "QUESTIONABLE MORALS" then your just showing how arrogant you really are because you don’t know any of us. Don’t judge what you don’t know.

Congrats to the senior class of 2010!

    ReplyDelete
  72. if this was such a bad prank, then why did we got it approved by the principal? from your comments by calling us "trash" and having "no morals", you just insulted the person who is in charge of the school

Ansonia is a wonderful school with a super staff and teachers. We have received a state rating of Excellent for the past couple years. Cute girls cute! Congrats and best wishes to all of you! Just remember when you have families, dont be all uptight like these folks on here:)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh yes, its the sign of the times. hahahaha! No morals. hahahaha! Ansonia is trash.hahahahaha! You people saying this stuff is showing that those students and teachers should have taught you. If you think that it is an "immoral" school because of this, I feel sorry for you and they way you live your life. People like you make it impossible and uninviting to be a Christian/ Catholic. Ya see a bra in a tree and its so immoral that there are now posts here for 3 days on this subject and you have them as some sort of monsters when they did a great thing -graduated. Where is the encouragement, (what the teachers were giving for GRADUATING). Mary owes an apology to the teachers AND the girls who worked so hard to get to that day! Congrats girls and Ansonia teachers! They are the greatest! And good grief Mary, lighten up. I am sure they won't be "tainting" Ansonia's reputation, which is a GOOD one.

Jealousy that no other school thought of this first! I am very proud to have my girls grow up in Ansonia school district. I'm totally blown away by the the negative comments & how this even became such a big deal- DRAMA! I would put money on that the people who call us "trashy" are the same ones who pull the blinds shut on their windows as they secretly look up porn on their computers. As for the staff, they are wonderful with their students. They really care about them & their future. Our community is family! We have pulled together in many difficult situations & will continue to do so. Way to go girls! Congratulations on giving Mary something to talk about!!

  77. Yes, This was great. All of America should follow your lead. Ansonia is setting the bar very high. I will have to lean to the side of imature on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Uh, the teachers are the reason you are an "exhalent" school district. Really? I am far less offended by the prank than that comment. Time to "bust out" the dictionary.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Sorry, but NO apology on this one. I stand my ground. As for making Ansonia look bad , the schoool administration did a pretty good job of that themselves. They needed no help from me or anyone else on that one. They allowed the girls to make their school look foolish and tasteless and offend no only myself , but many other parents that I have spoken to.If if was so innocent then why were they told to only do it on the highschool side where the elementary kids wouldn't see it ? I am not looking to argue- my only desire was to let the public know what was going on at the school since I did go to the administration with my complaint and got no where.

    ReplyDelete
  80. You have opened up a can of worms, Mary. You obviously have a life full of distraught to make such a big deal out of something so innocent. I actually feel sorry for you & your kids. It sounds like you dont even live in this community but have chosen to bring your child every day to this "foolish" school. As well as many parents do because we have such a good reputation for the excellent education. I will pray for you tonight.

Mary, sounds like your children maybe open enrolled, am I correct? Here's a suggestion...DON'T send them to our school if it is that immoral or trashy. We dont really need your type there. You may find a trailer at Greenville in a effective school district more inviting. Our school rocks!

  82. Oh my, my - just told by our favorite high schooler that senior girl bras found in the yard and trees at Greenville High School.

    More details to follow....

  83. obama obviously approved

    ReplyDelete
  84. I am a parent of an Ansoina student and I see nothing wrong with this. We are also opened enrolled. If this is the worse thing they do we are all doing well. It was a prank. You cannot tell me that all you with negative comments have not done something like this. Its a BRA whats the problem. You act asw if they were having sex on the front lawn and teachers watching. Most of you need to clean your own door step before trying to clean others.

    Thanks

  85. Anonymous June 1, 2010 4:25 PM. You made the comment "People like you make it impossible and uninviting to be a Christian/ Catholic".
That is about the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Don't blame others for not going to church. Thats the problem with most Americans, blame everyone else, its never my fault. Now I do agree that what the senior girls did was really not that bad. It could of been a lot worse. I really don't care to tell you the truth, but your comment pisses me off. No, I do not attend church. I am just sick and tired of hearing people blame others for their life. Its the same with lifers on welfare. They cry that they got the short end of the stick in life. Instead of going out and busting their ass to make a living. Last of all I have read all of Mary's comments, not once did see claim to be a christian. She did not even hint about going to church or being an christian. At least she has the balls to put her name on her postings.
    Where's your balls anonymous!!!!!!

  86. Come on people! If this is the worst that teenagers in the area do, you have nothing to worry about. I went to AHS years ago and moved to the "city" the first chance I got. Be thankful you live in a safe neighborhood and don't have to worry about the things you see on your nightly news. Even though I have to lock my doors at night, I am thankful to live in a place where my neighbors are open-minded folks that don't judge others so quickly.

The important thing to remember is these students graduated and are moving on to better themselves...even if they do so bra-less. =)

  87. To all the statements above I see Mary is not afraid to post her name. SO I never once seen her on her comments that Ansonia was trashy. It looks as if other people must view Ansonia in that manor. As outsider there are alot of STUPID statements made to try to defend yourself. All of us have seen bra and under grament, the bottom line is the administation approved this behavior and let it continue. There is a time and place for things and this was not the place. We all have done things we look back and regret. This took only a few people to make Ansonia look bad. It's not who done worse things then the other, to say this is not as bad as, but what was done set a bad reputation for all in the Ansonia Community. I know alot of people from that area and they are wonder people and I'm sure they are not proud of this. I for the person that asked why focus on the negative, I'm sure there has been alot of good come out of Ansonia (I know) there has. It takes one big mess up for people to forget the good. SO LETS WORK ON MORE POSITIVE LIFE STYLES - AS FOR YOU MARY, I'm sure you are guiding your children in a Godly manor and it will pay off.

  89. They have had a "streaker" at an Ansonia Graduation before and its not talked about anymore, let the kids have a little fun, they have worked hard to get there education and as it sounds had to walk past a couple of old bittys yards, heaven forbid if they cut thru your grass .Im sure they did ornery things as kids "senior pranks" I think there jealous that they didnt think off it 40 years ago when they graduated

  90. My oh my! I can just imagine that Miss Schlarman is looking down at us laughing histerically at us all making a fuss over something so trivial. Life is too short to spend in negativity. Class of 2010 has made memories to last a lifetime. Mary, why would you want to take that away from them?

    ReplyDelete
  91. OH MY GOSH!!!! for real mary get over it!!!!! wow lets see how many more comments this prank can get...Its a PRANK!!!!..get over please..everyone.. am sure someone has done worst for their senior prank... well heck they kids two classes before me super glued the locks and DID DO damage.. I do not attend church either. I did not blame others for going to church. I am NOT on welfare and do my part for our community! I was simply saying, that since Mary seems to be "holier than thou" that she is turning people off to her "holiness" by being so hard on the school and the girls. Sorry my statement "Pisses you off". ha! But when you went off into a rant about people sitting on thier asses, haveing a BAD life....Thats NOT me , ok? You are WAAAASY off base. I was telling someone who seems to be holier than anyone else here that she makes her "holiness" look bad and uninviting. I guess I should have used a different wording. Mary posted her name because she started this! DUH! How many HAVE put thier name here? HUH? 91 comments and NINE have something other than "anonymous". How BIG of you to post your name! By the way... I don't have balls and you just rant all you want if it makes you feel better.

And to Mary, we would never expect an apology from someone as uptight as you. No shocker there. Even though most here feel you owe one. Mary, you should run for office. They don't listen to the people either, and I am sure they could use more radicals.

  93. Where is my comment for Charlie? Not allowed to stick up for yourself here when being attacked? Mary can....why not me? There was nothing in my post except answers to his comments that were NOT against rules. DJ, why is it not showing?

  94. I have approved every comment on this story.

  95. You want to know what really makes Ansonia look bad and it is not the students, it is all you backing them when they do something like this. Kids do stupid things but you don't back that. Lighten up, how about be a parent rather than a cool friend. Some of you say that she is just trying to make Ansonia look bad but if there is nothing wrong with it then how is she making Ansonia look bad?

    ReplyDelete
  96. To 8:35 comment - you are right on target. Kids will be kids, however as parents, teachers, and Ect. it is our responsility to guide them. If it makes you feel better by put Mary down. She is not the problem, she only was trying to make a wrong - right. Some of you need to take some parenting classes.

  97. Maybe next year they will throw feces and put up a big sign that says "Seniors are sick of your shit"

Could be worse, usually Greenville has to deal with glued locks and break ins to the school. Apparently that stuff is typical, yet anything including undergarments is taboo.

    ReplyDelete
  98. umm so why are we still arguing about this? It's over; you can't go back and change it, so all this fighting isn't doing anything but wasting your time.
If you think it was wrong, okay so what, people know now good job.
if you think it was awesome then stop fighting with people who don't because its not changing their mind.

congrats and good luck 2010 grads.

  99. i just want to make number 100...haha.. Congrads class of 2010...
and good job girls!!! that was one smart prank!!!!...=D

  100. I think it was a fun prank to play. Lord knows there could have been worse things they could do. And it's not about the teachers either. It was not a bad thing that the kids saw the teachers "celebrating" with their students so to speak. Makes them seem rather human from a student's point of view. For those of you who were SO offended by a few bras hanging from the trees I suggest you build yourselves an underground bunker and park yourselves there for the rest of your lives. It should be safe there. Well as long as the women don't take off their bras for any reason.

    ReplyDelete
  101. hahaha an underground bunker thats ridiculous!!!

  102. the darke county journal has let this go WAY TO FAR! and Mary you should have just kept your comments and saying to yourself. You have made Ansonia look bad, not us Senior girls. I garuntee you that our senior prank did NOTHING to ruin our school reputation, and our school administration, staff, and teachers are not bad people just because they were out there laughing with us, get over yourself. And as to the rest of you people who keep complaining too. This was a PRANK for a reason, now stop talking about it and get a life. If you're a parent complaining about this, you're pitiful.

i was one of the senior girls in this and am proud of it! i love my school, classmates, staff, teachers, and administration! You are all amazing people.

  104. SENIOR GIRLS (2) WHO THOUGHT OF THE PRANK.....June 2, 2010 at 6:00 PM

    Senior Girls
This post is coming from two Ansonia Senior Girls who were in fact involved with this prank and also as a matter of fact came up with the idea. The two of us thought of the idea and informed the other senior girls. Yes to answer those of you that are saying we didnt get permission and we were out of line in fact we did get permission. We followed rules of what we were and were not allowed to do. A few of us got the bras so no they weren't our own to answer those of you complaining that you didnt want to see our own bras and yes we did clean them up before school was out. The bras and the signs were only out there from start to finish about 6 hours. After the fact every piece of bra paper tape, everyhthing, was completely cleaned up and that VERY day myself and the other senior girl that were in charge of this whole thing re-donated the bras for a good cause. Just to inform those of you as well that are calling us low and saying we have no class for doing this prank for some facts here: almost every girl that is on the Naiotnal Honor Society at Ansonia was there for the prank. Every girl in the Academic Top Ten at graduation was there involved in the prank. All the girls involved are also high achieving students and are involved in varsity sports. All of the girls involved are top girls in their class and have lots of class themselves. Those girls and the two of us have all been friends since 1st grade we are all taking the next step of college in our lives and doing good things for ourselves and our communities so those of you calling us low and un-classy and trashy please take a good look at what your criticizing and get over it. Also I dont know how i could forget to add but there was absolutely no teacher male or female that was out jumping or hooping and hollering or whistleing or egging anything on. There were exactly 3 teachers, not to be named, outside the building those 3 being teachers that have taught us before and that we are close with and that we excelled very well under and ps 2 of those 3 were female not male. So the statements about males cheering us on are false and the statements about us wearing bras on the outside of our clothes parading around the outside of the school is also false. This went down at 730 in the morning so for those of you parents complaining your 6 year old children seen this go down I'm not exactly for sure how that is even possible when elementary students start at 9am! You are just trying to make a tiny situation blown out of proportion. I hope in closing this comment will calm things down because its getting ridiculous that you people apparently have no lives to keep posting on somehting that WASNT A BIG DEAL AT ALLLLL!!!!!!! Can I also mention it was bras... seriously? We could have used G-strings to make matters worse. No one got hurt. Everything was cleaned up. Let me remind you it was for what a matter of 6 hours? Wow and we are making it a deal for how long? Almost a week. We didnt do anythihng wrong! SO thanks to those of you that have said we are classy and we are going to do something with ourselves I along with the other girls involved appreciate it! We love our prank and our Senior Class of 2010! Congrats to everyone and goodluck with your future colleges plans! I know we are all going to make way more out of oursleves then what some of these people on here complaining did.

Thanks to our teachers who have prepared us well for college and been there for us. We really appreciate the high level of education you have given us we couldnt have done it without you! Ansonia High School is the only school we would pick if we had to chose somewhere to go!

Again CONGRATS 2010! WE MADE IT!

  105. Should the teachers be forced to move into one of John and Kathleen Graham's homes by an elementary school? HA HA Check out those people on Darke Journal, now that's somethin to talk about!! Sick! I would'nt be worrying about Ansonia's elementary kids!! Lord only knows what Greenville kids may see on their way to school!
