Diabetic Group Classes

Summer is an exciting time of the year. There are graduations, sporting events, family gatherings, and vacations. However, if you have diabetes, these events can also create challenges for keeping your blood sugar under control.

Learning ways to help deal with these challenges will help you to manage your blood sugar when the situations occur. You do not need to avoid your favorite summertime activities.

The Wayne HealthCare Self-Management Diabetes Education Department offers monthly group classes to help you live an active and healthy life with diabetes. The interactive classes meet once a week for four weeks. During the classes you will learn the following: 1) facts associated with diabetes, 2) healthy eating, 3) the value of monitoring and using theblood sugar results, 4) the importance of exercise, 5) how diabetic medications work, 6) strategies to control blood sugar, and 7) ways to reduce risk of complications.

The next series of classes will be offered on June 2, 9, 16, and 23, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wayne HealthCare. The cost to attend is $10 per class. Registration is required so please contact the Certified Diabetes Educator at 937-547-5750.
