A great man, World War II vet Max Bixler passed away Saturday

Mr. Max O. Bixler, age 93 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday May 22, 2010 at 4:45 AM at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. He was born December 26, 1916 in Adams Twp. Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Ed and Jessie (Miller) Bixler.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a carpenter for Dale Rismiller construction. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Carpenters Local # 104 Dayton, Ohio, Treaty Squares since 1971.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Son: Lee Bixler; Sisters and brothers in law: Ermal and Homer Hall, Mary & James Royer, an infant sister; Brother in law: Charles Barnes.

He is survived by his wife Florence (Beisner) Bixler of Greenville whom he married July 18, 1942; daughter and son in law: Linda and John Warren of Florida; Daughter in law: Margaret Bixler of Oxford, Ohio; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; Sister: Betty Barnes of Winchester, Indiana.

Services will be held on Thursday May 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church 7814 State Route 121 N., Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Church Cemetery. Family will receive friend from 5:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday May 26, 2010 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday at the Church. Veterans Graveside Services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund or State of the Heart Hospice.
