Hello, and welcome to our newsletters’ sophomore effort. Response has been positive to the first edition but keep in mind that nothing is set in stone. The intent of the newsletter is to be as useful and informative as possible for the Darke County business community, so it can be anything you want it to be. Currently, we are trying to strike a balance between an update on the county’s Partnering for Progress (P4P) initiative and a run-down of regional seminars, events, and networking opportunities that can mean more business for your company. However, keep those suggestions coming and we will adapt accordingly.
On the development front, there are positive signs throughout our county. Activity is up across the board be it companies looking to expand, add equipment or new areas of production, or add employees. Most of these projects are still in their fledgling stages but there are more of them than there have been in awhile and it shows that, like the rest of the country, the local community is becoming cautiously optimistic about the economy. As always, all of those involved in the P4P initiative will strive to assist these efforts in any way possible. Please never hesitate to contact us.
The biggest news in May is the roll-out of the BusinessFirst! program, countywide. As previously mentioned, BusinessFirst! uses a customer-oriented approach to link businesses with resources that help businesses stay and grow in the community. Highly trained and motivated outreach specialists meet with individual business owners to learn more about each business and identify resources to assist the firm in succeeding. The training will occur on Wednesday, May 19th at Midmark in Versailles. Attendees include mayors, village administrators, utilities, CIC members, SBDC reps, etc- anyone that plays a role locally in assisting the business community. After that, the program will be “live” and will provide the perfect vehicle for the county, it’s communities, and the various development groups to work together to encourage growth.
In the meantime, please continue letting us know your thoughts on the newsletter and, if you have any questions on its contents or anything I’ve discussed, please contact the Economic Development Office at 548-3250. Thanks!
