Don’t miss out on the summer fun happening in downtown Greenville. Back this year is the free outdoor movies series, Flicks on 5th. The Third Thursdays of June, July and August, Main Street Greenville will provide a free movie on a two story inflatable screen on East 5th Street between S. Broadway and Walnut Street.
A poll for the first movie of the series was highlighted on DarkeJournal.com. The community voted for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Rated G; 100 minutes; 1971) to play on Thursday, June 17.
The community is encouraged to make Third Thursdays a family night during the summer. Downtown restaurants near 5th Street will be open with summer specials for the whole family. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening under the stars with great downtown atmosphere. East 5th Street between S. Broadway and Walnut will close at 7:30 pm. Movie trivia will begin at 8:15 pm with the movie starting approximately at 8:30 pm.
The July and August movie has not been picked yet. A new poll will go up on DarkeJournal.com after the June movie for the community to again determine next month’s flick.

About the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory: Pure of heart Charlie Bucket along with four grossly gluttonous girls and boys win the opportunity to tour eccentric recluse Willy Wonka's magical candy factory and the chance to win a lifetime supply of chocolate in this adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic. One-by-one, the children are undone by their own greed as the group sails down chocolate rivers and becomes part of Wonkavision until only Charlie is left to claim a prize even grander than a lifetime of chocolate.

This is an awesome thing that the community is doing. I praise all of the people and companies that are funding this, but beware, the sexual predators don't live too far!!!!
