The Greenville Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on June 8, 2010 at 2:58 a.m, at the Speedway South gas station. The suspect entered the gas station. and brandished a knife to the gas station clerk, and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot southbound on Sweitzer Street. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, short hair, some facial hair, approximately 6 feet tall, and approximately 200 lbs. The suspect was wearing a green Nelson Tree Service hooded sweatshirt and a white hat.
Greenville Police also responded to Roger's Sunoco, 841 Martin Street at 2:51 am. on a suspicious person call. Video surveillance showed the same subject there.
Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect, please contact Detective Eric N. Roberts at 937-548-4150 ext. 253.
What scum. I only wish I could identify the guy beyond being a disgraceful human being.
I really feel sorry for the poor clerk...what a terrible job to begin with. The night shift person has to clean the store, stock the shelves, wait on the weird customers that tend to turn up at night, and probably makes very little. Potentially he could have to give up his job out of fear, suffer post-traumatic stress, need counceling, etc. This will also affect all the other gas station clerks in town. And yet people justify these crimes because it only hurts a business and not a person.
With all the recent robberies in town I wonder how long it will be before we have to interface with our bank tellers and store clerks through money trays into their protective cages.
I hope he's caught and the store and clerk bring civil action in addition to the criminal charge(s).
I wonder if GPD has thought about going to Nelson Tree Service to see if anyone there could identify the creep. He actually looks kind of like me! Good lookin guy! haha

I agree Josh. Greenville is getting to be a crime ridden town, especially the Sothend!
