Main Street Greenville presented its first Flick on 5th Thursday night as a huge crowd of 300+, mostly families with small children, watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The large movie screen was placed near the intersection of Fifth and Broadway, and the crowd extended all the way back to the alley behind the Palace and the Bistro (the photo below shows just a small portion of the crowd).
Thursday night's crowd far surpassed any of the three movies Main Street Greenville presented during its last run in 2008. Thanks again to all the sponsors: Harry D. Stephens Foundation, GTI, Greenville National Bank, Leis Realty, Law Office of Jason Aslinger, Buchy Foods, Rep. Jim Zehringer, Steve and Eileen Litchfield and John and Ginger Warner.
The next Flick on 5th will be July 15th, and later today a poll will be posted with the new movie choices.
This is wonderful. I'm so glad the weather was good, and the crowd was full. Good times for all. This is something positive for Greenville, and I'm proud of those who helped to make this happen.
ReplyDeleteWe went for the first time last night-- what a great idea!!! And, yes- the weather could not have been more perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank You to all who sponsored this event. :)
How great is Willy Wonka, by the way? I had forgotten how much I love that movie! <3 Gene Wilder is fantastic!
