Chamber Legislative Committee Hosts Congressman Boehner

Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) will deliver the annual State of the Nation report to members of the Darke County Chamber of Commerce during a luncheon on Friday, August 6, 2010, at the Greenville Golf Club. The luncheon is hosted by the Darke County Chamber Legislative Committee and sponsored by Comprehensive Health Network.

A former small businessman and state legislator, Boehner is a leading voice in Congress on behalf of small business operators who are facing massive uncertainty as a result of government policies that increasingly discourage job creation. As House Minority Leader, Boehner has led House Republicans in opposition to tax hikes and massive deficit spending, while offering better solutions to help small businesses create jobs, protect Ohio farmers and manufacturers, curb government spending and lower the cost of health care. Boehner has vowed that a new majority in Congress would run the House in a more open and transparent manner, and has followed up on that vow with a bold congressional reform agenda and an exciting new initiative called America Speaking Out, which allows every American to submit their ideas for a new policy agenda rooted in the principles of a smaller, more accountable and less costly government.

  2. " Boehner has led House Republicans in opposition to tax hikes and massive deficit spending"

He voted "yes" for every one of Bush's budgets that had 400 BILLION dollar deficits.
He didn't "oppose" deficit spending until the Dems were in charge.

  3. Boehner is such a conservative...what a bad joke!!! Remember when he voted 'FOR' TARP?! Oh yes! The hits keep on coming! He also voted against the healthcare bill. However, why hasn't he proposed a bill to overturn it??? Make sure to ask him why! Wake up people!

  4. Four hundred billion dollar deficits look pretty good compared to obamas almost one and a half TRILLION dollar deficit don't they?

  5. 400 BILLION dollar deficits never look good in any circumstance.
I also find the Tea parties endorement curious, I thought the Tea party was against deficit spending.

  6. Anyone remember that funny little moment he had with tobacco PAC's campaign checks and the house floor?

  8. Hey .dj

Same could be said for the Presidency. But I bet that doesn't stop you from complaining.

If the Tea Party is for real, then the big three targets should be Pelosi, Reed and Boehner. But they aren't for real, just a leg of the Republican party. If they are against big spending, then big John should be their target as well. Too bad they are just full of it. Boehner will say anything to get elected. Mr. Fiscal Conservative? Yeah, right!

  9. Well, I've only been eligible to run for president once ... in 2008, when I was 37-years-old. At that point, I felt that a person such as myself - young, no executive or foreign policy experience - wouldn't have a chance. Clearly I miscalculated.

  10. What a bunch of jerks---- John Boehner has voted as his district required for all his years in congress, he has NEVER taken earmarks (look it up) and he has supported other conservatives running for office. he's calm, serious and smart---which is more than I can say for the idiots in the White House. The Democrats have tried for years to run against him---- never made any kind of headway. Which of you jerks can claim that kind of success?

  11. So his district required him to vote for every Bush action that led us to the brink of economic failure? Calm, serious and smart? You left out tan. He is a career politician who's only interest is in his own career. The idiots in the White House did not lead us to near collapse. This article says that he wants transparancy but he participated in the most secretive republican lead white house/congress of all time. He talks a line of bull to folks and neonuts swallow it whole. If it's time to clean house, it's time to clean all the house, not just one floor. And he talks about a less costly government right after 8 years of running up huge deficits? Time to take your head out of the sand. He is a joke with idiotic followers. Wake up. Complaining about one party when both have failed miserably is small minded!

  12. " Which of you jerks can claim that kind of success?"

    What kind of success?
The kind of success that leads one to represent special interests over the average citizen Barb?
or the kind of success that voted "yes" for budgets that were 400+ billion in the red?
It's people like Barb that get led around blindly that keeps careerist's like Boehner in office, now that is success, for Boehner, not for us though.

  13. "Calm"--that may be true overall but it reminds me of his "speech" on the floor leading up to the health care vote. His "speech" was profane and at points involved screaming.

A serious question: Do you Boehner supporters like his principled no earmarks position? I admire the principle but wonder if he shouldn't wait to pledge no earmarks until a significant number of other districts do the same. If everyone else is getting the $$ and we stand on our principles, who's the fool?
