do they think this show will make people change there mind?I think this is getting out of hand and they need to just stop it.The people have spoken let it go for gods sake!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEducation is key. If you came in with an unbiased opinion, evaluated the facts, made an assessment, and decided what was best, or the right thing to do, you would vote yes.
ReplyDeleteit's an opportunity for people with concerns to ask hard questions and get answers.
ReplyDeleteThere have been untold amounts of voters voting no becuase of illogical reasoning (why not a sales/income tax, why not a k-12, we'll have to pay more later for operating expenses,i don't want to pay if welfare recipients won't, harvard has a 100+ year old building, etc etc)...
this is your opportunity to voice the concerns and get answers directly, rather than relying on hearsay, assumption, and just plain dishonesty to determine your decision.
Will information make people change their mind? Yes! More than one person had admitted on this site that talking with a school board member or the superintendent caused them to change their mind.
ReplyDeleteClearly the comments on this site indicate there is still a lot of misinformation, misconceptions, lack of information, rumors, and failed logic behind people voting 'no'.
In my opinion, I have heard one, and only one, legitimate reason to vote no: The person absolutely in no way can afford another $5-$15/month for property taxes (approximate based on $50k - $150k value). In that case, they have a good reason, and are justified.
The $8.8 million boat is about to sail out for good. It's their duty to make sure people have all the information. People complain about lack of transparency, so the last thing we need to do is complain about the opportunity to have an open forum to get questions answered.
Will someone please tell me why these people continue to try to get this levy passed and save me from myself? I've already told them twice that I am short-sighted and want to live in a dying town. Why they won't take no for an answer and just let me drag them down with me, I will never know. After all, look at me. What about my life doesn't suggest that I have made one great decision after another? What makes them think that my objection to this levy isn't just another in a long line of good decisions that have made me the winner that I am today?
ReplyDeleteWhen are these people gonna wise up and tell the State that we don't want their $8.8 million dollars in free money? No, sir. I wasn't born yesterday. Nobody better ever offer me $8.8 million to my face or I'll open a can on 'em. In fact, if I ever see any of those free money boys from the State, I'm gonna tell em they can take that free money right down the road to one of them towns with a bunch of book-learnin' types. We don't need none of that free money 'round here.
Live free or die! Don't tread on me! No new taxes! Git-R-Done!!!
Free money? Obviously you are an obama supporter.
ReplyDeletejme, don't support education and too dumb to vote in your own self-interest? you sound like a republican.
ReplyDeletejme...I don't know for sure, but I believe that 5:13 was trying to make the point that there are just plain mis-informed, rumor-believing, stupid people that vote no because they refuse to LEARN about how this whole thing works. Sad, but true.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, hope that it does pass. I HAVE seen the schools recently, and I HAVE talked to those in charge. This isn't about "me"...it's about doing the right thing. I don't want to pay more in taxes - who does?!? But there are times when you must look past your own nose and do something smart, and good. Someone paid to put me through PUBLIC school, it's my turn to do the same...even if I have no children in the system, or have to figure out a way to save $100 more a year.
Stupid really believe they are getting a tax rebate if this passes, thank God I doubt it will.
ReplyDeleteI dont even live in Greenville, but am so saddened by the ignorance of the citizens in Greenville. So many of you feel its about you...it really isnt...its about your children and their education! No wonder so many people are moving their children out of Greenville School system....they have NO SUPPORT! Wake up Greenville and support your children! Its not about you and the few dollars a month in taxes you will be paying!
ReplyDeleteI don't really think it is "ignorance of the citizen's". I do feel most people support their children. I have seen and been in all the buildings.
ReplyDeleteWe do need a new school. But in my opinion, to do it right and save money down the road, we need to do it right with honesty and planing taken by all the people of the community. We are in uncertain times and any project will cost to much. So we need to do it right the first time. Look at T.V., they redone their high school and added on so all the kids came to one central place. Ya!, most of my R.E. tax go's to the school but it's a done deal. I was not for it, my son spent only about 5 months in it but its over and no more buildings in the "down the road" plan. I think it's going to take a new group of leaders to get unstuck on what (They Wont To Do ).
