1st Place at the Ohio State Fair!

Saturday, July 31 was "Photography Day" for 4-Hers at the 2010 Ohio State Fair. Representing Darke County in the Level Two photography project "Controlling the Image" was Erika Jeffers, member of the "All That Jazz" 4-H club and junior member of the Darke County Photography Club.

After presenting her 4-H project book to the judge, Erika critiqued and analyzed seven matted and framed enlargements of what she felt to be her best photos for the year. She then selected one photo from that group to be considered by the jury of judges for the top honors.

Erika's photo, combined with her presentation score, earned her a spot in the "Outstanding of the Day" group, which consists of the top 20% of all entries in that project level. Her photo was then selected as the First Place photo out of all 55 entries representing the best of the Level Two projects from counties throughout the state of Ohio. As the First Place winner, Erika was presented with the traditional clock trophy which all Ohio 4-Hers recognize as the symbol of excellence at the Ohio State Fair.

Copies of Erika's photo, along with those of the Level One, Three and Four winners plus fifteen other selected photos, will be displayed in the Nationwide and Farm Bureau 4-H Center on the Ohio State University Columbus Campus for the following year and may be considered for use in 4-H publications. It will also be on display at the 2011 Ohio State Fair.

Congratulations Erika Jeffers, for representing Darke County with pride at the Ohio State Fair! Erika is the daughter of Kathy Quinn and Roger Jeffers and will be an 8th grader this fall at Greenville Junior High School.
