The effects of seizure-related illnesses, including epilepsy, can be devastating for individuals and families affected by the disease. One area organization needs help from Darke County residents in identifying families that need assistance, as well as help in tackling this illness head-on.
Help Darke County residents who face struggles with epilepsy and related conditions by representing our area as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Epilepsy Foundation of Western Ohio. Board of Trustees members will provide governance for the organization and assist with raising funds to support the organization’s annual budget. Volunteers will also serve on a variety of event committees, including committees that lead the agency’s annual mud volleyball tournament and several other events. Members, who must be at least 18 years old, will participate in monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. A direct connection to family members or friends with epilepsy is helpful, but not required.
“Our Board of Trustees are instrumental in helping this small non profit survive in these trying economic times. With their help we have weathered the storm that resulted in other small agencies having to close. By providing an important link to Darke county residents, you will be helping to further our mission and to assure that “not another moment is lost to seizures,” says Janine Poppa, Epilepsy Foundation Western Ohio President and Chief Executive Officer.
