Fencing has been erected around the old D.A.R.E. house and visitation house on Sycamore Street in Greenville. Workers were present and appeared to be gutting both buildings today. The entire area will soon become new parking spaces.
I think this is a terrible shame. When we allow these beautiful architectural structures to be torn down we and our children are removing a part of our history. Shame on you Greenville.
I wonder who built and lived in these old grand homes, as well as some of the older log homes in Greenville? It would be interesting to hear some of Greenvilles history.
what did they do with the visitation house? meaning where did they move it?
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame to tear down a beautiful house like that... you just can't build them like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteWe need more of these old buildings to come down. If you dont keep a building maintained, this is what happends.
ReplyDeleteMore like when someone needs a parking lot and has the money this is what happens.

ReplyDeleteAll you who deplore the destruction of these buildings owe it to yourselves to learn who is really behind this. It may surprise you.
ReplyDeleteOk Anon 1:56 I will bite....who is behind this demo?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the papers, it's not the city and it's not two of the three judges. Is that enough hintle?
ReplyDeleteI don't think the city has anything to do with it. Do your research before you run your mouth people!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteToo bad these grand old houses are being tore down, they have a lot of character.
