CAR VERSES PEDESTRIAN CRASH

On September 9th, 2010 at approximately 9:30 PM, the Darke County Sheriff's Office, along with Rossburg Fire Department and Ansonia Rescue, were dispatched to a vehicle/pedestrian accident on North Star Fort Loramie Road just East of State Route 118.

The initial investigation revealed a 1993 Jeep driven by Ronald Christian (57) of New Weston was Eastbound on North Star Fort Loramie Road. Darrell J. Dow (27) of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania , was walking Eastbound on North Star Fort Loramie Road when he was struck by Christian's Jeep. Witnesses at the scene advised that Dow was dressed in all black clothing. Christian reported not seeing Dow on the roadway due to heavy race traffic at the time.

Dow was treated by Ansonia Rescue and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Investigation revealed that the pedestrian Dow was intoxicated while walking on the roadway.

At this time, the accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
