HERITAGE BRASS OPENS DCCA ARTISTS SERIES

Darke County Center for the Arts will present the Heritage Brass Quintet at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 25. The eclectic ensemble which was formed in the early 1980’s will perform the music of Broadway in their own unique style. “A Heritage Brass concert always provides an exhilarating experience,” said DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins. “They are awesomely talented, and their music appeals to people of all ages,” Rawlins concluded.

Heritage Brass Quintet’s most recent album, It’s Showtime, features music from West Side Story, A Chorus Line, and other popular Broadway musicals; their Greenville concert will showcase many of these same tunes. The group includes founder Erik Svoboda who is also a featured cornet soloist with the traveling “Sounds of Sousa” Band; trumpeter Alan Couch, a versatile musician who appears regularly with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, the Cleveland Pops, and the Cleveland Chamber Symphony; tuba player J. C. Sherman, a graduate of highly-esteemed Oberlin Conservatory of Music; Greg Hillis, who plays the French horn and is also a composer and arranger; and trombonist Paul Hungerford.

Greenville Technology Inc. is sponsoring this concert by the Heritage Brass Quintet. DCCA also receives support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Tickets for the show are $20; additionally, season tickets for the entire Artists Series remain available offering all four DCCA presentations for $70, a significant savings over individual ticket purchases.
