Great art to view and free children’s make and take classes will be part of the Prairie Days at Darke County Parks this coming weekend. Besides the many downtown events and the big Gourd Show, families and friends are invited to enjoy the many Prairie Days activities as well as 35TH Annual Greenville Art Guild Show, featuring entries by southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana artists and photographers.
Darke County Parks has two full days of fun and entertainment for the whole family, Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26. Art Guild members will be on hand for face painting and many volunteers will be manning other activities reminiscent of the late 1800s for all ages. Parking will be available on St. Rt. 502, with a shuttle bringing guests into Shawnee Prairie and the opportunities to do and learn. Hayrides will be available to add to the fun of the two days!
Besides the 35th Annual Greenville Art Guild Fall Show, which runs from Saturday, September 25 through Saturday, October 2, there are several other opportunities for beginning artists or experienced ones. On October 23, near Gettysburg in a lovely meadow with farm scenes and bridge for photographing, painting or drawing, the Art Guild is sponsoring an Old Fashioned Plein Air outing. An old fashioned lunch in the field on old time chairs will be a part of the event. Call 937-564-6719 for details.
An opportunity to learn clay building and sculpture is also scheduled for October 8 and October 30. No experience is necessary. Call Jan Boyer, 937-548-1916 for information and to make reservation for the two workshops.
