Feed Darke County

Many Darke County churches, businesses, organizations and the Darke County Commissioners are joining forces this Harvest season. They are working toward the goal of stocking the FISH food pantry with enough food to Feed Darke County for an extended period of time. In order to do this the entire community must get involved!

In 2008, FISH assisted 2212 households by delivering over 88,480 pounds of food. In 2009 those figures rose to 2375 households and 95,000 pounds. With the economic situation in our area, those numbers continue to rise. The goal of Feed Darke County is to raise 100,000 pounds of food before October 23!

This extreme food drive was launched September 19 at the Illumination Music Festival. We will continue to collect foot at NextStep Ministries, the location of the FISH Choice Pantry, 501 Gray Avenue in Greenville. Donations may be dropped off at this location any Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or during the Harvest Day Celebrations on Friday, October 22 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon or Saturday, October 23 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Churches, businesses and organizations are being asked to get involved by setting up their own plans for collecting food and dropping it off at NextStep Ministries. Please accept this invitation to help Feed Darke County! Call 569-0192 for more information.

You can now support the FISH Choice Pantry with no additional out-of-pocket expense! By switching your gas and/or electric supplier through the Switch and Support program, a portion of the bill you pay is directed back to the FISH organization. Switching is easy! In Ohio, gas is available to both commercial and residential consumers, and electric is available for Agricultural, Commercial, and Industrial accounts.
