ReplyDeleteBruce, when you Boehner needs to go because he has done nothing for us what exactly do you mean? I think he has worked hard for all ohio and US citizens. I guess you mean he has not brought home enough pork projects or piled on enough earmarks to bills to suit you. Do you have any idea who pays for those things Bruce? Taxpayers do. i don't know if you are among the 47% of people who don't pay taxes in this country or not. Realize this. Any pork projects congressmen bring home to their districts has to be paid for. We have NO money and are in debt 14 trillion dollars.

John Boehner has been in Washington to long. He has become a political statesman, and is out of touch with Darke County, and the entire 8th district. Everyday I read and article where he is lining up cronies when HE becomes Speaker of the House. Pork, I dont want pork from Washington. I want leadership and new and fresh ideas to get this country rolling again. Boehner is a broken record. Go check out the guy who is running against him. Pretty impressive
Jonathan Alter just wrote a column in Newsweek which asks people to consider what happens if/when the GOP takes back the house. Obviously, he's a lefty, but if any of you consider yourself intellectuals about political matters, I'm curious to know what about the GOP's agenda from 2000-2006 makes you feel good about their control of congress. Is it merely that they'll stop Obama? If so, do you really think healthcare will be reformed? Do you really think Roe v. Wade is going to be overturned? Do you really think GOP supply-side policies help Darke County's economy which is based on agriculture and working-class manufacturing incomes?
ReplyDeleteI'm resigned to the idea that the House is flipping. In terms of Obama's re-election, I welcome it. I'm just really wondering what good comes from "Speaker Boehner" over the next 2 years.
You welcome a socialist president who hates America and has done nothing but to try to grow government, apologizes for America's greatness at every chance he gets, bows to anyone he can and thinks America isn't a special country?
ReplyDeleteThe GOP will be different because unlike before, they now have the Tea Party watching them like Hawks, I am confident that the Tea Party will have no issue ousting any GOP member who doesn't fulfill their promises or takes us back to the era of big spending they were guilty of before.
Unlike the democrats who have nothing but an entire party that knows how to do nothing but spend and has shown a complete lack of understanding on how the economy works, and how to create jobs.
I'm willing to be on the Right before I would double down on the inept Left again. This country can't afford it.
People can disagree with policy matters and I can respect that. People that say Obama hates America because he is a socialist show their ignorance and lose all respect. You also likely believe in death panels and think he wasn't born in the US. Both parties are in the clutches of the special interest groups and the tea party people are a joke. What started out as a decent idea was quickly taken over by the far right.
ReplyDeleteOverall I see nothing special coming out of the mid-term election and career politicians like Boehner offer nothing new. Expect the same as before which helps no one.

ReplyDeleteApparently, the GOP has no idea how the economy works either. The governor is NOT responsible for hiring at your local business and neither is the president or any other person holding seat unless they OWN the businesses. Those who site HIGHER taxes, and lets be serious ( speaking as a business person myself)- a few percentage points is a lousy excuse for sighting a lack of ability to create jobs if you are effectively running your business. Holding the line because of "tax" issues is more a product of greed and pride (or lack there of?) in MOST cases.
ReplyDelete400,000 jobs in Ohio disappeared as a result of a change in business climate. The manufacturing model has changed for a number of reasons- one of the biggest being cheaper LABOR in other countries. The question is, do we send the income of the lions-share of the population elsewhere so 1%-4% can profit or do we take a stand and create ways to keep it here like investing in renewable energy for instance?
By simply retooling existing manufacturing firms who have lost viability, we redirect that productivity back home where it belongs...unless we buy our steel from China and outsource those products as well???
I see a lot of the GOP saying hold the line...for what? To sit and watch the downslide continue as it all falls apart? Or do we combine some of those efforts which include spending on our future while finding cost effective solutions as well.
One of the biggest problems in our country is our educational system. I read a great article posted by Jim Surber elsewhere on this matter that I found to be of great insight. Kudos Jim for your vision and forethought!
We live chiefly by one law in our country- The law of supply and demand. A law which caters to the haves and leaving behind the have nots.
The demand for higher education is great, so we boost the price to a ridiculously high rate so as to price it out of reach for the masses. We base our hiring principles more on a tiny piece of paper than the effectiveness of a persons skill set. Book knowledge, more often than not, does not amount to a hill or beans in the real work world as opposed to a sharp mind and real world experience.
This just touches the tip of an enormous iceberg which weighs our country down like the Titanic. When we stop looking to point blames and stop top creatively assess the damage from ALL possible angle, then and only then we will be set on a road to recovery!
I agree. Currently both sides are more interested in winning and being right than doing what is needed for our country. The key is compromise and coming together to make things happen for everyone. More so than ever before people are bombarded with opinion disguised as news and swallow it whole. Neither side is right all the time. Round-the-clock "news" channels have actually, in many ways, made our nation less informed. Too bad because things will not get better in our current political state.
