The Greenville High School girls and boys varsity and junior varsity cross country teams competed in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Championships this past Saturday. The girls varsity team was led by freshman Chloe Warvel who blazed the 3.1 mile course in a time of 19:23. Warvel finished 13th overall and 1st in the North Division. Her time of 19:23 vaulted her into the # 6th position of all-time fastest times in Greenville girls cross country history. Following her in the race was Kristen Karns in 20:38 (32nd), Catherine Gibson in 21:19 (46th), Cheyann Beam in 21:50 (56th), Angela Borgerding 23:01 (76th), Emily Hayes 23:01 (78th), and Caitlyn Eckstein.
The girls varsity squad finished 8th overall in the conference and 2nd in the North division.
The boys were paced by senior Andrew Cox who finished 9th overall and 2nd in the North division with a time of 16:29. Cox's time puts him tenth amongst all-time fastest boys in Greenville cross country history. He was followed by Lucas McCabe 17:54 (57th), Calen Bruner 17:55 (58), Michael Karns 18:11 (68th), Drew Burns 18:12 (69th), Landon Bruner 18:42 (77th), and Connor Menning 18:44 (78th). The boys finished 10th in the conference and 3rd in the North division.
The lady wave reserve girls finished the day 3rd in the North division. The girls were led by Elizabeth Conway 23:17, followed by Shelby Price 24:21, Kalista King 25:12, Olivia Quellhorst 25:25, Amanda Blocher 26:12, and Terah Colby 27:18.
The reserve boys finished 2nd in the North division. Caleb Oda led the boys with a time of 18:40 followed by Oatrick Esaray 18:48, Austin Lowder 19:36, Tyler Trick 19:37, Cylas Conway 19:45, Kaleal Ester 19:49, James Butsch 20:10, Carlan Harter 20:57, and Aaron Jones 21:06.
Both Varsity squads travel to the Miami Valley Career Tech Center to compete at the district level this Saturday. Best of luck to all runners!
