Halloween - A Scary Season for Sex Offenders

In Montgomery County sex offenders can expect to be checked on by the US Marshall Service or the Montgomery County Sheriff’s department. This is being done even though the offenders have "paid their debt to society" and the probability of recidivism is supposedly low. Phil Plummer, Montgomery County Sheriff, believes "preventing one tragedy is priceless". US Marshall Bill Taylor believes “the weakest among us” should be the best protected.

Other communities nationwide have put brakes on sex offenders’ behavior by banning them from handing out candy and prohibiting them from Halloween activities. Given their almost vigilante responses to a clear and present danger, the ACLU legal funds will be severely stretched in their attempt to protect sex offenders.

By comparison, the deliberate, considered and measured approach taken by the City of Greenville in response to a problem that has been cast upon them is laudable. Perhaps that explains why Continental Carbonic Products Inc. decided to locate their dry ice production facility with as many as 70 new jobs in Greenville/Darke County.

  1. The "deliberate, considered and measured approach taken by the City of Greenville" is a knee-jerk based upon conjecture in the face of facts. But anyone foolish enough to support it would doubtless be gullible enough to believe such action could attract a business to town.

  2. Right! I'm sure it was this moronic legislation, not the proximity of a ready source of CO2 (the ethanol plant) and a reliable labor force that attracted Continental Carbonic Products.

  3. Rape is a traumatizing crime for its victims. Children must be protected from rapists.

Psychological, emotional, physical and social effects including depression, post traumatic stress disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, poor self-esteem, dissociative and anxiety disorders; general psychological distress and disorders such as somatization neurosis, chronic pain, sexualized behavior, school/learning problems: and behavior problems including abuse, destructive behavior, criminality in adulthood and suicid. Rape is a crime of violence, power and control. No one deserves to be rape.

  4. 7:04-Hmm..knee-jerk reaction! You really like that one, don't you? We are all ignoring your rhetoric. I think it's good that we are being kept informed. I have already downloaded my maps! Everybody have a SAFE HALLOWEEN!

The statement " "deliberate, considered and measured approach taken by the City of Greenville" was subtle hyperbole directed at Graham's claim that the city's legislation would drive businesses away from the community. Both Graham's claim and our statement are sheer nonsense except ours was meant to inform while his was meant to intimidate a community that is already economically stressed.
What are your thoughts about the rest of the article? What do you think about what they are doing in Montgomery County and other communities?

  7. 1000ft- or 1500ft. What makes the difference? if they are going to commit again 500ft isnt going to matter. Why doesnt C4C worry about something a little more important? This law has been in effect for awhile now, and Graham has been holding these houses for quite some time, so why worry about this now all of a suddon?
