Darke County Center for the Arts will present the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus performing George Frideric Handel’s Messiah at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 11. The performance begins at 7 p.m.According to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins, the entire oratorio will be performed. “Hearing Handel’s masterpiece played by skilled professional musicians can be a transcendent experience,” Rawlins stated. “This magnificent work truly captures the real spirit of the season; I cannot imagine a more appropriate way to celebrate the holidays than by joining the audience for this exceptional concert,” Rawlins concluded.
Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in 1933, and is the largest performing arts institution in the Miami Valley. The concert will be conducted by Maestro Neal Gittleman, now in his sixteenth season with DPO.
This holiday concert, a part of DCCA’s Artists Series, is sponsored by Jim and Enid Goubeaux, Ami McClurkin, and Greenville Federal. DCCA also receives support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
Tickets for Handel's Messiah are $30 for adults and $15 for students, and may be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net, or purchased at DCCA’s office at Greenville Public Library. Tickets will also be available at the door if any remain by showtime.
