Dr. Clay Johnson, the Garst Museum executive director, is shown with Al Greiner, representing the Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial Fund. The memorial grant helps to fund the museum’s educational program for Darke County fourth grade students. The program is provided at no cost to students. As part of the program, which is compliant with state curriculum standards for the fourth grade level, every student receives a take-home packet about their museum experience.

Dr. Johnson stated, “The Stephens Memorial Fund allows the Garst Museum to provide a wonderful opportunity to the area’s students. The program has rapidly grown in popularity with the local schools and their students and our docents enjoy interacting with the children. The majority of the schools have already booked their tours for the year and we look forward to a busy spring providing the students with a unique and rememberable educational opportunity.

Funding from the Harry D. Stephens trust fund is for charitable, educational, scientific, literary and/or religious purposes. Trust fund committee members include Pete Hemer, Carol Funderburg, Jennifer Bish, Al Greiner, and Dr. Michael Fourman.

The Garst Museum is located at 205 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331, 937-548-5250,
