Interesting Productivity and Reminder Tools

If you have been home from work the last couple of days looking out the window on Deep Freeze 2011 it’s likely you have a pile of things waiting for you to get back to today. Don’t despair, I am going to share 4 productivity tools I use every day that help me manage my time. Let’s get started.

Egg Timer: This web based tool lets you put in a certain amount of time and counts down from there. If you’re ever researching something online and look up to find 2 hours has passed then this is for you. If you do a fair amount of work on a computer this will help you manage the time.

Nudgemail: Nudgemail is a free email service that emails you reminders for important events days, weeks, even months in advance. Let’s say you want to remember your anniversary. Just send Nudgemail an email with a note in the body to buy a card and some flowers and they will return the email to you on the date you selected. Simply signup, read the instructions, and begin using.

F.Lux: If you are looking at a computer screen at night your body is tricked into thinking its day time because of all the light entering your eyes which could make it difficult to sleep. This application will detect your time zone and adjust the screen resolution automatically to reflect the time of day. For instance, at night the screen will have a yellowish/amber cast to it so that it is not so bright for your eye. This is also free.

Do Nothing for 2 Minutes: Sometimes we just need to take 2 minutes to relax before jumping back into work. When you visit this website it shows you a beautiful sunset and plays some sounds of waves hitting a beach. The challenge is to close your eyes while listening to the waves for 2 minutes before heading back to the next thing you have on you’re to do list.

Also a quick note: if you took advantage of free calling with Gmail from my previous post you will be glad to know Google has just announced they will be extending the free calling to any phone within the U.S. through 2011. Well the egg timer just went off; it looks like I need to move on to my next item on my to do list.
