A Level 3 Ice/Snow Emergency has been issued for Darke County due to freezing rain falling across the county and expected dangerous conditions throughout the overnight hours. All roadways in Darke County are closed except for roadways within the city limits of Greenville which will remain open until 6:00 PM.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Darke County until 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Significant amounts of freezing rain along with strong winds are expected throughout the evening and the overnight hours. Travel will become impossible by Wednesday Morning and power outages are likely.
This Level 3 Ice/Snow Emergency takes effect immediately at 4:00 PM. The City of Greenville will be at Level 3 beginning at 6:00 PM.
A level three ice/snow emergency means that ALL roadways, except those within the city limits of Greenville , are CLOSED to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Anyone traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.
