The Open House will be a chance to learn more about programs offered in Health Occupations, Public Safety, Industrial Trades, and Construction Trades. Some of the Adult Education Programs with spring start dates are listed below:
- Central Services Technician, an 11-week, short-term program. This class provides the student with the knowledge and skills to function as an effective Central Service Processing Technician. Job duties could include cleaning/decontaminating supplies and equipment, cleaning/caring for equipment, and packaging/sterilization of instruments. Students successfully completing this course may sit for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam.
- Dialysis Technician, a 30-week program. The Dialysis Technician program prepares students to work in dialysis units, assisting in the care of patients undergoing hemodialysis. The program is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to administer safe and effective care. This program is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Next classes start April 25, 2011.
- Electrician, a 38-week full-time program. Job opportunities are excellent, largely due to the openings created as experienced electricians retire. Next classes start April 4, 2011.
- Firefighter Level I, a 24-session short-term program. Meets or exceeds the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Fire Services Office knowledge and skill objectives for Firefighter I. Upon successful completion, student will be prepared to sit for the Ohio Firefighter Level I exam. Next classes start April 4, 2011.
- Heating and Air Conditioning Technician, a 38-week full-time program. Heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration technician’s work anywhere there is climate control equipment - in homes, supermarkets, hospitals, office buildings, and factories. Job prospects are expected to be very good for those with technical school or formal apprenticeship training. Next classes start April 4, 2011.
- Masonry, a 36-week full time program. The masonry program prepares students to enter the construction industry with the skills and knowledge needed for an entry-level position in the bricklaying/masonry field. Students will work with mortar, brick, stone, and block, and learn to lay, align, and join brick and block to stone and concrete. Blueprint reading, math, and cost estimating also included. Classes begin April 4, 2011.
- Optometric Technician, a 47-week full-time program. The Optometric Technician program teaches the skills necessary to assist an optometrist. A person in this position would assist in testing patients’ vision, providing frame styling services, and instructing patients in contact lens handling. Next classes start March 28, 2011.
- Pharmacy Technician, a 12-week short-term program. The Pharmacy Technician program offers entry-level training that prepares individuals to work as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting. The course helps prepare the student for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification test. Next classes start April 25, 2011.
