BLUEGRASS DIVA CLAIRE LYNCH PERFORMS IN GREENVILLE

Darke County Center for the Arts will present Claire Lynch and her band at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville on Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. According to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins, Claire Lynch has won the International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year award twice, most recently in 2010. “Claire Lynch has one of the best, most distinctive voices in the business, regardless of genre,” Rawlins stated. “Her songs evoke deep and wide-ranging emotions, and her band is incredibly sharp. DCCA is truly thrilled to have been given the opportunity to present this exciting artist!” Rawlins concluded.

The concert by Claire Lynch and her band was a last minute addition to DCCA’s season, when the arts presenting organization was offered the unexpected opportunity to fill a rare brief lull in the artist’s touring schedule. The singer/songwriter has been described as a “a creative powerhouse at the top of her game.” Fellow singer/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter says that Claire’s original songs display her gifts as a songwriter of uncommon skill, and whose outside song choices reinforce Claire’s artistic self as “one who feels deeply about home, family, strength, resilience and courage.”

Darke County Center for the Arts is a local arts council whose mission is to present and promote the performing arts, encouraging cultural enrichment in the community. DCCA receives support from Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and Ketrow Foundation. In addition, the Ohio Arts Council helps fund Darke County Center for the Arts with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Tickets for the concert by Claire Lynch and her band are $20, and can be reserved by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net. Ticket will also be available at the door.
