Civic Theater Announces Auditions!

Its that time again! Time for summer fun and that starts with auditions for the Annie Oakley Days Melodrama! Make this the year you break out of your routine and do something different. Plan to attend Darke County Civic Theater auditions on April 30th and May 1st at Shawnee Prairie Nature Center located at 4267 St. Rt. 502, Greenville, Ohio. Auditions will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. We are in the need of approximately six males and six females, ranging in age from fourteen to ninety, to fill the cast of characters.

The melodrama is "Dirty Work Afoot or How to Dig Your Fortune in Ten Easy Lessons" by Sherry Roseberry. Villainous Bernard Blackburn is in debt up to his dark moustache, but he plans to wed innocent Polly Goodson to remedy that! She believes she is penniless, but actually her late father's insurance policy is very valuable. Blackburn is somewhat daunted when he meets Polly's eccentric family and disapproving maid, but he easily gets her boyfriend, John Trueheart, out of the picture by convincing him to go off to make his fortune before asking Polly for her hand in marriage. Luckily, Trueheart finds his fortune in a diamond mine and in the final scene, everyone gets their just rewards.

This production is produced by special arrangement with Eldridge Publishing Company. Remember, even if you don't want a speaking role, there are so many things to do that any special talents you have would certainly be appreciated, even if that special talent is enthusiasm! If you can't make these audition times, please don't let that stop you. Civic Theater President, Dane Leeper will be happy to take your call with questions. You can reach him at 937-337-2265 . You may also access our website at darkecountycivictheater.org. for more information. You know you want to audition, so just do it!
