Towne & Country Players, a Community Theatre group located in beautiful, rural Versailles, Ohio, is excited to announce their outstanding cast of performers for their magnificent portrayal of the Broadway phenomenal hit, “The Secret Garden”. This 1991 Tony nominated musical is based on the book by Francis Hodgson Burnett and the music by Lucy Simon (sister of Carly Simon) and noted Broadway lyricist and librettist, Marsha Norman.
The cast includes local talent and Versailles High School sophomore, Brooke Robinson in the lead role of Mary Lennox. Anthony Sollenbarger, a Wright State University graduate in theatre performance, from Englewood portrays Archibald Cravens, and Versailles native, Jacob Brown as his brother and doctor, Neville Cravens. Towne & Country is pleased to introduce to our theatre group Emily Werling as Lily Cravens, the love of both men’s life. Becci Miller of Greenville, returns to the group from her hilarious role in “Nunsense” to tackle the difficult role of Mrs. Medlock, a housekeeper torn by duty and nurturing. Tim Weaver a Versailles senior steps into the role of Dickon, often compared to a role made for a young Dick Van Dyke of Mary Poppins fame.
Newcomer, Kimbi Nagel of New Bremen brings her talents from the Crescent Players of Auglaize County to Versailles as Dickson’s older sister, the Yorkshire maid who befriends the orphan, Mary. Mason DeMange an eighth grader at Versailles plays the role of Colin, the crippled son of Archibald Cravens. Brian Collins, a Towne & Country favorite in dramas and murder mysteries makes his musical debut as Ben Wetherstaff, the much beloved gardener of the manor, and the children’s trusted friend.
Other important roles include: Shanna Comacho, as Rose, Mary’s mother, and Michael Heft as Mary’s father, Albert Lenox; Kristen Condon as the Fakir; Melanie Balstar as the Ayah; Kim Borchers as Mrs. Winthrop; Rebecca Schreffler as Jane; Derek Eakins as Lt. This production requires a strong Ensemble chorus and we are fortunate to have Arlene Luttmer, Carrie Waymire, Jaclyn Lawrence, Morgan Turpin, Mike Brown, Adam Barga, and others yet to be confirmed. Also a children’s chorus is included in the production featuring Ceirra Todd, Mariah Collins, Cassandra Turner, Megan Van Skyock, and Olivia Bruening.
You will want to make plans now to see this production as Towne & Country Players Premier event in the new Versailles Performing Arts Center. Tickets will go on sale May 15th and there are limited seats available.
