DCSA's Girls U12 Team DC United Wins Double Header, Improves to 3-0

The DCSA girls U12 team DC United had an eventful home opening double header against Grand Lake and Oakwood.

Maura Hoying started the scoring off with an early goal, but the team fell behind Grand Lake 2-1 at the 23 minute mark. Hoying then got the tying goal right before half. But the DC United defense pitched a second half shut out. Sam Whritenhour and Hayley Burns tended goal while Madison Baker, Raven Mote, Paige Burns, Kayla Arnold, Allie Null and Maddie Shepard all played gutsy defense to keep previously unbeaten Grand Lake away from the goal. Allie Null scored United's 3rd goal with an assist from Tasha Kahlig and Hoying finished with the games last goal. The hard fought 4-2 victory put DC United at 2-0 for the season.

DC United's second game vs Oakwood also started a little sluggish as the girls fell behind 1-0 but quickly rallied to a 4-1 half time lead. Natalie House started the scoring with 2 quick goals with assists from Maddie Shepard and Maura Hoying. Sarah Rhoades and Sajoel Hauberg kept up the offensive pressure as Hoying went on to score the next 4 goals and the defense tightened up to allowing Oakwood only one second half goal. The 6-2 victory improved DC United to 3-0.
