GOVERNOR DESIGNATES ORAL, HEAD AND NECK CANCER AWARENESS WEEK

Encourages Ohioans to Take Preventative Measures to Combat Cancer

Today Gov. John R. Kasich announced that this week, May 8-14, has been designated as Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week across Ohio. Each year an average of 3,560 Ohioans are diagnosed with various forms of head and neck cancer. While the survival rate of patients diagnosed with oral, head and neck cancer is less than 60 percent, more than 85 percent of the diagnosed cancers could have been prevented with proper treatment and screenings. A copy of Kasich’s Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week proclamation can be read here.
