DCSO Press Release Regarding This Morning's Accident on 49 S

Arcanum- On June 7, 2011 at approximately 5:09 a.m. Darke County Deputies, along with Arcanum Fire and Rescue were dispatched to SR 49 in the area of Drew Rd in reference to an injury accident involving a car and a semi.

Initial investigation shows that a 2009 Volvo semi owned by Garber Ag Freight, driven by Brad Muhlenkamp (42) of Osgood, was heading northwest on St Rt 49. A 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Wesley Reier (24) of Greenville was driving southeast on SR49 when Reier’s vehicle went left of center hitting Muhlenkamp’s semi head-on. Reier’s vehicle then slid off the west side of the road coming to final rest in the side ditch. Muhlenkamp’s vehicle continued north going off the east side of the road striking a Embarq telephone pole coming to final rest.

Reier was trapped inside his vehicle and was extricated by Arcanum Fire and Rescue. Pitsburg Fire and Greenville Township Fire were also dispatched to the scene to assist.
Reier was treated by Arcanum Rescue and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Care Flight. Muhlenkamp did not report any injury from the accident at this time.

Reier is listed in critical condition at Miami Valley hospital.

This accident remains under investigation at this time by Darke County Deputies.
