John Warner receives 2011 Chamber Citizen of the Year Award

The Darke County Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting Thursday at Romer's Catering in Greenville. The guest speaker was Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor, who spoke about CSI (the Common Sense Initiative) and regulatory reform.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Visitors Bureau presented the first ever Darke County Tourism Citizen of the Year Award to Penny Perry.

Then 2010 Chamber Citizen of the Year Mike Fourman took the podium to announce this year's award winner, President / CEO of the Brethren Retirement Community, John Warner. Mr. Warner accepted his award and delivered a humble and gracious acceptance speech.

Ms. Perry and Mr. Warner also received commendations from State Reps Jim Buchy and Richard Adams, State Senators Keith Faber and Bill Beagle, Speaker of the House John Boehner, and Lt. Governor Mary Taylor.
