Okay, Okay, Anonymous Wins!

You've twisted my arm until I can take no more. We will now accept comments from Anonymous after a several month hiatus.

The general commenting policy will remain: no name calling, vulgarity, slander, etc. Comments will also continue to be moderated as they always have. If you leave a comment and it isn't approved, feel free to email darkejournal@gmail.com for an explanation.

CHALLENGE: Let's make this thread the longest ever in DarkeJournal history! Anonymous, converge here and spill all of the gems of brilliance you have so long been denied! Windfarms, Sex Offenders, School Buildings, Chili Dogs, anything is fair game!

  3. "Your comment will be visible after approval."

Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real. Somewhere in their upbringing they were shielded against the total facts of our experience. They were only taught to look one way when many ways exist.

  5. You have just cheapened our non-anonymous comments :)

  6. What is the record for most comments????

  7. Let's go for 1000

  8. Now if we could just get rid of Scoreboards "ads" as news, we'd be two-for-two in making this a better place.

    And....go!

  9. i agree - BUY the AD like the other advertisers on the site... If I was an advertiser - that would not be good.

  10. Agreed! No more ads disguised as news releases

  11. How do you know if they are paid or not?

Further, I don't think anyone mistakes them as "news"

  12. Not much to comment, but I will post a comment, but not anonymously.

  13. Doesn't matter if they paid. If they paid, move it off to the side. If they didn't pay, get it off the site! It isn't news! It is a FREE ad and they SHOULD be paying if they want an ad in the ad space off to the side or at the top! It dilutes the purpose of the site and turns it into a mockery and drives people away.

  14. Happy to read anonymous comments again!

  15. The emancipation proclamation of this situation is no longer in litigation. Our lives will be free from our wives knowing that we have ties to this site. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, we have overcome this tyranny.

  16. Me to 11:14 pm, the rest of you can just wine wine wine!
The ads don't bother me either!
Keep up with the ads Dark Journal, you got to make the sight pay for it's self any way.
Don't let people try their political clout.

  17. I guess all the people who were chicken to voice their opinion can now do so. It is a shame when people have to voice their opinion anonymously not having the guts to speak out and be known.

  18. It is not like people could not remain anonymous by just creating a fake name. Even a different fake name for every post. I just think people didn't want to bother with the hassle.

And I agree, the "ads" in the news section are a site killer. Yeah, make the site pay for itself - put the ads on the sides or at the top of the site just like all the other ads. Its pathetic right now coming here wanting to get "news" and instead being inundated with ads where you want to get updates on information about where you grew up.

    Sounds good!

  23. I'm against the change. When anonymous comments were previously allowed it made it very difficult to have a discussion. When multiple people are commenting as "Anonymous" you can't easily follow. You start getting comments addressed to "Anonymous at 4:42".

I fail to see how people think they have greater anonymity by commenting as "Anonymous" versus making up a fake name. Even a fake name makes the site more enjoyable. I may not have a clue in the world who "Betty92" is, but if she makes intelligent comments on a regular basis I'm more likely to read future comments.

People also tend to take greater care with what they say under a name. You can be guaranteed most of the uninformed, rude, bullsh*t, trolling, and otherwise undesirable comments will all be posted as "Anonymous".

I hope people will continue to comment under a name, even if it's a fake one. It makes the site more enjoyable and of higher quality.

  24. Man, ya' better start work on making the stories most people want to ignore move away quickly or the hot threads show more prominently, cuz I just had to scroll about 2/3 of the way down the home page before finding the article where y'all wanted to make it the most commented on ever. Kind of hard to do that when it disappears underneath 90% non-consequential information.

  25. I think that just means anonymous failed the challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think most of those "anonymous" who have "failed the challenge" want to read the first couple links and be done. If nothing there is of interest, they scroll no further. Lord knows I have no desire right now to be "checking out tail" with Bell and Sophia. Nor does the length of Abby's tongue entice me to proceed or read.
