Treaty City Amateur Radio Assoc 100th Anniversary Open House

The Treaty City Amateur Radio Association (TCARA) is celebrating 100 years in 2011. Tracing its roots to the beginnings of wireless communication, the TCARA has helped foster the knowledge and enthusiasm for amateur "ham" radio for generations of Darke County hams.

From a casual meeting of friends, to an incorporated special interest organization, the TCARA has made it through thick and thin. There were a few years in the twentieth century that saw our group either on a government ordered suspension of ham radio activity during World War II, or a period of reorganization. Since the late 1940's, the TCARA has remained an active organization in many aspects of ham radio, including contesting, emergency communications, and assisting those new to the hobby.

With 2011 being our 100th anniversary, we invite our friends and neighbors to help celebrate! On July 30, 2011 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, we will host an open house at the club station (Studebaker School, Heritage Road/State Route 49 S). We'd also like to express an early thank you to the Fort Greene Ville Chapter DAR, for their assistance with this activity!

Whether you may be a former member, a relative of a ham, or just curious as to what ham radio is about, we'd love to have you join us for a fun afternoon to socialize and share demonstrations!
