WINEMAKERS GRANDSON AND U.D. ALUM AT DCCAdent EVENING

Meet Bill Whiting, the grandson of the founder
of Banfi wines, at the DCCAdent Evening, October 7th.
Darke Co. Center for the Arts is pleased to have William Whiting, the grandson of the founder of the Banfi winery and a 1990 University of Dayton alumnus presenting the Banfi Wines. Mr. Whiting’s grandfather, John S. Mariani, Sr. founded the winery in 1919.

The upcoming fundraiser, the DCCAdent Evening will be held at the Greenville Golf Course, on Friday, October 7. The evening will include a multi-course Italian dinner paired with the wines of Castello Banfi, Italy’s most honored Vineyard Estate. (www.castellobanfi.com).

Banfi enjoys the unique claim of representing three brands among the nation’s 10 top-selling imports, and its Italian vineyard estate, Castello Banfi of Montalcino, Tuscany, has won Italy’s highest wine honor four times – the Premio Gran VinItaly as International Winery of the Year.

As Wine Education Director of Banfi Vintners, Bill implements educational programs about wine for the staffs of Banfi wholesalers, industry professionals, students in the hospitality field and the general public. He keeps abreast of developments in the field through active involvement with such professional organizations as the Society of Wine Educators, American Wine Society and the Dioneysian Society International.

Prior to joining Banfi, Mr. Whiting was associated with Heidelberg Distributing Co. of Dayton, Ohio. He joined Banfi in 1997 as a sales manager in the firm’s Central Division where he was responsible for the company’s business in Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska.

New this year to the DCCAdent Evening will be the opportunity for an optional tasting of the premium wines offered by Banfi. This unique experience will be available for $20 for four pours, during appetizers.

The fabulous multi-course dinner will be paired with wines. Fun House Mirrors from Columbus will be providing music for dinner and dancing. Also that evening, there will be an auction for 4 tickets to the November 19 OSU vs. Penn State game graciously donated by State Representative Jim & Sharon Buchy.

Tickets for $70.00, include dinner, wine, entertainment, tax and tip. Tickets are available at the DCCA office in the Greenville Public Library or by calling 547-0908 or at the Greenville Golf Course. As space is limited, the ticket purchase deadline is September 30.
