Darke County Civic Theater to Perform at Prairie Days

Attention all melodrama fans! Melodrama season is NOT over! Dane Leeper, President of Darke County Civic Theater is proud to announce Civic Theater's fall melodrama to be performed at Prairie Days on Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th.

This year's play is titled Harold Hardluck's Lucky Strike By Bill Van Horn and is produced by special arrangement with Eldridge Publishing Co. The play takes place in the town of Gravestone where the citizens wonder if something is amiss when payrolls are robbed from stagecoach runs that are miles apart, four times in a row, by a thief who smells nice. Our Lovely heroine Lucy Lovelight thinks Rudolph Rumple could be involved. He's paymaster for the companies and owner of the town store/hotel/bar. It seems that lately old Rudolph has been burning his trash hourly and making a suspicious amount of smoke. Lucy's true love, Harold Hardluck, is back from yet another failed attempt at mining. But Harold ends up saving the day when he stops Rudolph and the outlaw twins, Dilly and Dally Robbsy.

The cast is made up of Civic Theater members, Megan Neff, Nikki Wheeler, Leah Lewis, Lori Dorn, Arianna Kinner, Taylor Dorn, Rachel Francis, Laura Francis, Quinton Gray, Trevor De Schepper, Devon Persons, James Maloney, and directed by Dane Leeper. The cast has worked hard this summer and is ready to make you laugh out loud and forget your troubles for a little while.

Please bring a lawn chair and join us for the shows on Saturday at 11:00 AM and on Sunday at 2:00 PM. Both performances will take place at the outdoor stage behind the log cabin on the festival grounds. If you haven't been to Prairie Days, you are missing a truly wonderful festival that is free to the public with lots of entertainment, crafts, and fun for the entire family. The festival takes place at Shawnee Prairie Preserve located at 4267 St. Rt. 502 in Greenville. We would love to see you at the festival, but please come early and stay for the entire day! Festival hours are Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Dane Leeper at 937-337-2265.
