The seniors participating in the trip have expressed an interest in college through their participation in Advance College Project coursework at GHS or participation in the Bridges to College mentoring program.
Before the trip, the students were given information about college visits and questions to ask when visiting colleges.
“This was a great experience for the students because much of the information provided could apply to other colleges,” said Beth Sears, executive director of Bridges to College. Bridges to College is a non-profit organization that helps more students go to college. It serves Greenville and Ansonia students.
“We encourage students to explore different colleges and visit campuses,” Sears said. “It’s important that students find the right fit.”
“As a guidance department, we just want students to have more exposure to college options so they can make informed decisions,” said Becky Curtis.
Also participating in the trip were GHS teachers Shelia Reichard and Amy Davis. Both teachers teach Advance College Project (ACP) courses at GHS. Students who successfully complete ACP coursework are eligible to earn college credit.
