Local Senior Community Celebrates Halloween

GREENVILLE, Ohio, Monday, November 14, 2011– On Thursday, October 27, 2011 Sterling House Greenville, a Brookdale Senior Living assisted living community, and Clare Bridge Greenville, a Brookdale Senior Living Alzheimer’s and dementia care community, celebrated Halloween with a party and a pumpkin decorating contest.

During the month of October Sterling House associates delivered over 25 pumpkins to local businesses. The businesses were asked to participate in a contest by decorating the pumpkin in any way the chose to with just one exception, no carving. In the days leading up to the Halloween party 10 fully decorated pumpkins were returned to the Sterling House. We were thrilled to see the creativity the following local businesses displayed when decorating their pumpkins: State of the Heart Hospice, Versailles Health Care Center, Heartland Nursing Home, Western Ohio Physical Therapy, Innovative Senior Care, Commercial Printing Company, and Family Health Suites 2, 3, 4 & 5.

Then, on the evening of our event, kids of all ages came to Sterling House to Trick ‘r Treat, munch on some Halloween-themed goodies and of course to vote for their favorite pumpkin!

At the end of the evening votes were tallied and one pumpkin garnered votes in an overwhelming landslide! The winner of this years contest was the pumpkin decorated by Family Health Suite 3! Their pumpkin was decorated to look like Doc Smurf complete with hat, stethoscope & name badge.

A sincere thank you goes out to all participating local businesses!
