ANSONIA WALL OF FAME TO INDUCT NEW MEMBER

Ansonia OH - On Saturday, January 14 the Ansonia Athletic Wall of Fame committee will induct a new member during halftime of the Ansonia-Riverside varsity contest.

Christina "Chrissy" (Billenstein) Cox, class of 1997 will be recognized for her athletic accomplishments in softball and basketball. A partial listing of her honors include; Softball years 9, 10, 11, 12 and Basketball years 9, 10, 11, 12. She excelled in sports, earning 8 of a possible 8 letters in the sports she participated in.

Basketball: D3 Award ’95, Basketball Most Improved Player ’95, Softball: Most Improved Player ’95, CCC special mention ’95, CCC honorable mention ‘96 Best Defensive Player ’96 &’97, MVP ‘96-’97, CCC 1st Team ‘97 honors.

Some of her Softball highlights include: Pitched a no hitter with only 2 walks against Tri County North; pitched 21 strikeouts, recording every out of the game against Jackson Center (one run was given up due to an error); struck out 17 and pitched a one hitter against Bradford; struck out 16 against Mississinawa; struck out 18 against Houston; struck out 10 against Bethel; pitched a 3 hitter against Arcanum; struck out 11 against Bethel; struck out 10 against Jackson Center. Career strikeouts totaling 364.

One of Christina's favorite sporting memories is pitching her no hitter.

Christina has been married 9 years to Ryan Cox and they have 2 children, Vera age 4 and Anna age 2.

Also being honored that night will be Angie (Clouse) Westfall and Teri (Prescott) Cross for their Track State Championships. Angie was the 1985 Long Jump State Champion with a distance of 17’ 3 ¾’’. Angie still holds the school long jump record. Teri was the 1990 800 meter State Champion with a time of 2:20:05. Teri still holds the school 800 M record.

Ansonia will host Riverside on Saturday with the Junior Varsity contest starting at 6pm.
