Barry Larkin Should be Elected to the Hall of Fame of Fashion

Deadspin.com, a wildly popular sports and pop culture blog, found this photo of former Reds Shortstop and forever Hall of Famer Barry Larkin. They, naturally, took some clever shots at Barry's duds and the generally 90's esque photo. Click here to see the Deadspin article and the comments (beware of harsh language).

But why post this here? Well, the photo originated from the facebook page of Greenville resident Matt Birt. Someone shared it on the net where it seems as though it took off via twitter and at some point was picked up by Deadspin. Matt offered this explanation:
I do believe the picture was taken in 1991. It was taken at Galen Blosser's house, who owned a lumber company at the time. He did a lot of building for Reds players.

This was the after-party for the Reds basketball game put on at the GHS gym by Joe Marker. Barry's brothers —Stephen and Byron— were also there. Barry ended up wrestling either Stephen or Byron in the living room.

I think Paul O'Neill showed up. So did Tim Birtsas.

Barry gave me about twenty minutes of his time before the night was over. He was really cool to a kid who was pretty nervous to even be in his presence. It was a highlight of my high school years.
Oh, and just to cut the questions off at the pass, Barry is not wearing a Cubs shirt, but a shirt from the 1990 All Star game, which was held at Wrigley.
