Greenville FFA honors Wildlife Specialist to Speak for Ag Science II Class

On February 1, 2012 Doug Steinbrunner, a wildlife specialist, from the Darke County Soil and Water Conservation District came to speak to the Ag Science II students in the Greenville FFA. Doug was asked to speak so that the students could learn more on wildlife habitat, and what we can do to protect it. This topic went along the lines of the wildlife unit currently being studied in this class. During the time that Doug spoke he informed the class on different types of native grasses, native wildlife, and other things that we can work on conserving and promoting here in Darke County and around the area. One important program that the students were spoke to about was the CP-33 program.

The CP-33 applies to many people living throughout Ohio, and other parts of the United States as well. It is where the government pays for land owners to plant wild grasses, have trees fallen, and let other wild plants to grow naturally and abundantly. This can in the long run benefit wildlife, control soil erosion, and protect water quality.

The students in the Ag Science II class at Greenville High School definitely learned a lot form Doug, and would like to thank him for his tremendous efforts and time to come speak with the class.
