"Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming" to be Presented by Oakland Church of the Brethren

The Oakland Church of the Brethren, 8058 Horatio-Harris Creek Road, Bradford is presenting SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN HOMECOMING as their 2012 Dinner Theater production. This is the third in a series featuring the Sanders Family that past Oakland dinner theater audiences have thoroughly enjoyed. It’s October 1945. The war is over and America’s years of prosperity are just beginning. But there’s another kind of rite of passage at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where the Reverend Mervin Oglethorpe is giving his last service. Having been called to preach in Texas, he’s already bought a 10 gallon hat and is preparing to ride into the sunset with his wife June, who is eight months pregnant. Tomorrow morning, June’s brother Dennis will take over as the congregation’s pastor. Join the Sanders Family as they send Mervin and June off in style, with hilarious and touching stories and 25 fabulous Bluegrass and Gospel favorites.

The dates for this delightful play are March 2, 3, 9, and 10 at 6:00 pm, cost of the dinner buffet and play is $22.00. The play only with dessert to follow is March 4 at 2:00 pm, cost is $12.00. Cost for children 9 and under is half price. Reservations may be made by calling Brenda Coblentz at 937-548-1895 between the hours of 4-8pm.

Proceeds from the dinner theater production will help support Oakland’s outreach projects.
