GREENVILLE TRANSIT SYSTEM AND MV TRANSPORTATION RECOGNIZES “SAFE OPERATORS OF THE QUARTER AND YEAR”

At the March Safety Meeting at Greenville Transit System, Darrel Roan and Larry Wade were presented awards for being selected as Safe Driver of the Year and Driver of the Quarter. The full time drivers for Greenville Transit are eligible for the Katherine McClary Professional Operator of the Division during each Quarter and for the year.
Katherine McClary was a young adult who was struck and killed in an intersection by a bus in North Carolina. Since that incident, MV Transportation has gone to great lengths to ensure that SAFETY and Safety Training is completed on a monthly basis and meets the high standards that MV requires. Keeping Katie McClary’s name in the forefront of this remains a commitment that MV stands by and recognizes.

Larry and Darrel were nominated based on a Point System based on safety record, driving record, community service, and Drive Cam events. Each driver who wins the quarterly award is issued a crystal plaque with their name on it and a certificate. A driver who is presented the Driver of the Year award receives a crystal plaque, a certificate and a watch.

Larry has been with GTS since 2009 and with MV Transportation since 2010. Larry drives a full time schedule and also helps with dispatching duties as needed. His commitment to getting our passengers to their destinations “safely” is a standard that Greenville Transit System and MV Transportation take seriously. To be nominated for Driver of the Year, a full time driver must meet all the above requirements for the year. Darrel has been a driver for GTS since 1995 and has driven for MV Transportation since 2010. Darrel has a CDL and drives a full time schedule for GTS. Darrel’s many years driving our Dayton Route without any incidents is testament to his excellent driving and customer service skills. When you see Darrel, congratulate him on this honor.
