St. Paul’s Episcopal Church presents a Celebration of St. Patrick’s Day

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church presents a Celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday, March 18th at St. Paul’s, Greenville. This will be held during our Holy Eucharist service at 10:30 a.m. We will honor St. Patrick during the service by singing St. Patrick’s Breastplate. St. Patrick was born into a Christian family along the northwest coast of Britain. His grandfather was a priest, and his father, Calpornius-a deacon, as well as an important official in the imperial Roman government. When Patrick was about sixteen, he was captured by a band of Irish slave-raiders. At twenty-one, he escaped and returned to Britain, where he was educated as a Christian. He took holy orders as both a priest and bishop and returned to Ireland in the year 431. There he began a remarkable process of missionary conversion throughout the country until his death in 461. Many legends of Patrick’s missionary travels exist, and we will share some of them during our Coffee hour (following our Holy Eucharist service) along with Irish music, and where we will all ‘become Irish!’

We are asking that those who are willing wear green on Sunday to this service.
