UPDATED: Riegle to Resign as Greenville Superintendent

Update 2: Sue Bowman, President of the GCS Board of Education, provided this statement:
We as a board plan to meet and discuss what is best for this school district to move forward. We wish her the best in retirement and thank her for her years of service.

Update: Susie confirmed this for us today by providing a copy of her resignation letter:
Greenville Board of Education:

I am submitting my resignation for retirement purposes effective July 30, 2012. It has been my privilege to work with the students and staff of Greenville City Schools.

Susan Riegle
Original Post: DarkeJournal.com learned this morning that Greenville City Schools Superintendent Susan Riegle has resigned. This is unconfirmed confirmed (see above) by Ms. Riegle, but we have multiple reliable sources who validate the claim and state no specific reason for resigning has been given. This would be right on the heels of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach TJ Powers resigning to take a position with Arcanum, leaving the BOE the task of replacing both positions for the upcoming year.

We have sent requests for comment to Susie as well as the BOE and will update the story as we learn more.
