Two Car Accident at the Pak a Sak Gas Station in Arcanum

Arcanum- On April 4, 2012 at approximately 8:33 a.m. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Arcanum Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to SR49 just north of Arcanum Bears Mill Rd. in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.

Preliminary investigation showed that a 2003 Ford Explorer, driven by Jared Swafford (18) of West Milton, was leaving the Pak-a-Sak gas station on SR49 and pulled out to head northbound on SR49. Swafford pulled out in front a 1995 Ford F-350, driven by Adam Rex (24) of Laura, which was heading northbound on SR49. Rex’s vehicle struck Swafford’s vehicle, which then pushed Swafford’s vehicle off the east side of the road.

Rex refused treatment by Arcanum Rescue. Swafford was extricated out of his vehicle by Arcanum Fire and Rescue. Care Flight was initially dispatched to the scene, but was cancelled by Arcanum Rescue. Arcanum Rescue then transported Swafford to Miami Valley Hospital. At this time Swafford’s condition is unknown.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
