On April 1, Gray allegedly trashed Cates apartment, and she kicked him out. The victim apparently let Cates return on April 15, and on April 17, he was arrested for domestic violence and taken to Darke County Jail. The victim was granted a 12-month civil domestic violence protection order against the suspect, according to police.Be sure to keep checking WHIO for the latest information as it develops.
Gray appeared in court Wednesday and was released. Police believe he immediately started looking for Cates, and found her around 1:45 a.m. Thursday when the assault occurred.
Update: WHIOtv.com has updated their story (still linked below) to add that the victim is a 38 year old woman and they believe her assailant is a former boyfriend. They did clarify that the woman was staying with two friends rather than at home due to fear of the former boyfriend. As more information is released we will add it.
Also, as parents already know, grades K-4 are on a two hour delay this morning due to the suspect still being at large.
Original Post: WHIOtv.com is reporting that overnight a woman was allegedly attacked and left with multiple cuts and serious bleeding, enough that after being taken via ambulance to Wayne Hospital, she was taken via CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.
Police believe this was a result of an ongoing domestic dispute and the attack occurred on Grey Avenue, where it is believed she was staying, at least partially, due to safety concerns, according to WHIO.
