Local Residents Launch "The Samizdat"

Last week saw the initial launch of a new undertaking by several local residents in the form of a new web magazine called The Samizdat. According to the initial post, the name comes from the underground, self publishing network that persisted in the former Soviet Union during times of oppression. What do these folks plan to do?
We aim to capture the ambiguity and nuance of local history, personalities, stories and events. We want to heighten the discussion of what it means to be the citizen of a small town while participating in an increasingly global landscape. We aim to turn our focus to stories beyond the limits of our small city.
To check it out, visit the-samizdat.com and find them on Facebook.
